The Las Vegas Raiders appear to have a well-oiled front office in Year 2 of the John Spytek era as general manager. Moreover, the team is coming off what many consider a successful 2026 NFL Draft.

As a result, if the Silver and Black finally have competent people running the show to turn the team into contenders, well, other teams in the NFL will take notice. Furthermore, executives under Spytek could be in line for major roles with other organizations.

The Minnesota Vikings are looking to fill their vacant general manager position, and Alec Lewis, who covers the team for The Athletic, listed potential candidates. Among the names on his list, there’s Raiders assistant general manager Brian Stark.

“Here is a new name to know,” Lewis wrote in his April 28 article. “Stark, who was the Denver Broncos‘ director of college scouting from 2016 to 2024, followed his close friend, John Spytek, to the Las Vegas Raiders. This background is just a start. Stark coached at San Diego State from 2000 to 2008. A quarterback there during that time? Vikings coach Kevin O’Connell.

“Stark is an executive who is aware of O’Connell’s vision and abilities. His evaluation chops are worth a mention, too. He began his NFL career as a college scout on the West Coast. The Vikings could marry those relationships with the team’s current college scouting staff.”

Raiders Front Office Explains Trading Away Tyree Wilson

Over the weekend, the Raiders’ front office made a major decision, cutting ties with former Top 10 pick Tyree Wilson. The team dealt Wilson, along with a 2026 seventh-round pick, to the New Orleans Saints in exchange for a fifth-round selection (No. 150), which Las Vegas later used to draft Arizona safety Dalton Johnson.

Despite being the seventh overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, Wilson wasn’t drafted by this new regime. As a result, Raiders VP of Player Personnel Brandon Hunt explained why it was time for both parties to part ways.

“We were going to say it was just an opportunity for a fresh start, a fresh start for him and a fresh start for us,” Hunt told reporters on April 25. “The phone was ringing throughout the entire draft, and when that call came in, we looked at where we were as a team and the decisions we had made in free agency and the draft.

“We felt it was an awesome opportunity for him and for us. We wish him all the best. We’re thankful for his contributions as a Raider, and we think he’ll do a great job in New Orleans.”

Tyree Wilson Breaks Silence After Trade

On April 27, Wilson spoke with the media in New Orleans and said he’s content with the trade, as he also feels it was time for the Raiders and him to part ways after three seasons.

“I wouldn’t say need, but I wanted a change of scenery,” Wilson told reporters on April 27. “… I love Vegas and love the people, love the opportunities in Vegas, but I feel like it wasn’t off to the best start, and pretty much there’s always a change in coaches every year; I feel like here in New Orleans, the trend is going upward, and I’m grateful to be here, grateful for the opportunity.”
