Borussia Dortmund hosted Eintracht Frankfurt on Friday night in a crucial Bundesliga Matchday 33 clash, with Borussia Dortmund vs Eintracht Frankfurt carrying major importance near the top half of the table.

Dortmund, with 67 points and ranking second, needed a victory to solidify their position before the final weekend of the season. Dortmund also carried a strong scoring record into the match, averaging nearly two league goals per game this season.

Key Players and Team News

Serhou Guirassy remained Dortmund’s biggest attacking threat after scoring 15 Bundesliga goals this season. Julian Brandt and Jobe Bellingham were expected to support the attack creatively.

Frankfurt relied heavily on young midfielder Can Uzun, along with attackers Ritsu Doan and Arnaud Kalimuendo.

With the Bundesliga season nearing its conclusion, this Borussia Dortmund vs Eintracht Frankfurt clash carried major consequences for both teams.

Borussia Dortmund vs Eintracht Frankfurt: Early First Half Update

Borussia Dortmund turned the match around before the break to take a 2–1 lead against Eintracht Frankfurt at Signal Iduna Park.

Frankfurt made a stronger start and stunned the home crowd in the 2nd minute. Can Uzun opened the scoring after being set up by Mahmoud Dahoud, exposing Dortmund’s defense early in the game.

Dortmund struggled initially but improved as the half progressed. Their equalizer finally arrived in the 42nd minute through Serhou Guirassy, who produced a powerful right-footed finish into the top corner to bring the hosts level.

Momentum quickly shifted toward Dortmund after the goal. Deep into first-half stoppage time, Nico Schlotterbeck scored to complete the comeback and send the home side into the break with the advantage.

Borussia Dortmund grew stronger in possession after conceding early, with midfield control improving through Marcel Sabitzer and Jobe Bellingham.

Frankfurt remained dangerous on transitions but lost momentum after Dortmund’s equalizer. At half-time, the hosts held a narrow lead after a dramatic turnaround in the closing minutes of the first half.

Dortmund Secure Bundesliga Runner-Up Spot

Borussia Dortmund secured a 3–2 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt at Signal Iduna Park, confirming second place in the Bundesliga standings behind FC Bayern Munich.

After leading 2–1 at half-time, Dortmund extended their advantage in the second half and survived late pressure from Frankfurt to collect all three points in their final home match of the season.

Frankfurt believed they had found an equalizer in the 55th minute when Farès Chaïbi scored, but the goal was ruled out for offside after the assistant’s flag went up.

Dortmund then moved further ahead in the 72nd minute through Samuele Inacio. The young forward scored his first Bundesliga goal by volleying in a cross from Maximilian Beier to make it 3–1.

Frankfurt continued to push late in the game and reduced the deficit in the 87th minute with a goal from Jonathan Burkardt, creating a tense ending at Signal Iduna Park.

Despite the late pressure, Dortmund defended strongly through stoppage time to protect the lead. Earlier goals from Serhou Guirassy and Nico Schlotterbeck had helped turn the match around after Frankfurt’s early opener from Can Uzun.

The result officially secured Dortmund as Bundesliga runners-up for the 2025–26 season.
