The Lions have announced news on two star players before they take on the Los Angeles Rams.

It’s a good time to be a basketball fan in the Motor City, as the Detroit Pistons have taken a commanding two games to none lead in the Eastern Conference Semifinal over the rival Cleveland Cavaliers, who have defeated them in each of their last two most recent playoff matchups.

Those days are long gone, as both of those teams (2007, 2016) featured LeBron James on his way to an NBA Finals appearance.

However, the Pistons have their sights trained on what would be their first NBA Finals appearance in 21 years, having most recently appeared in 2005 in a heartbreaking seven game loss to the San Antonio Spurs.

And meanwhile, as has been the case throughout several home playoff games for the Pistons so far this spring, multiple members of the Detroit Lions were on hand for the game in person.

And the crowd at Little Caesars Arena went absolutely wild for a gesture from star defensive captain and former Michigan Wolverine Aidan Hutchinson, who made his first appearance at the venue during this playoff run.

Making his first appearance at Little Caesars Arena this spring, Hutchinson wore an iconic pair of buffs glasses, which became a symbol of the Detroit hip-hop scene in the 1980s and 1990s.

They were also famously worn by Pistons first overall selection Cade Cunningham shortly after they chose him first overall in the 2021 NBA Draft out of Oklahoma.

In addition to Hutchinson, his Lions teammates Jahmyr Gibbs and Jameson Williams were also on hand, as were former Michigan Wolverines “Fab Five” member Jalen Rose was in attendance, along with former Michigan State Spartan and current Golden State Warrior Draymond Green.

Fans in the Motor City would love to see more Detroit athletes in attendance for the next home game at Little Caesars Arena for the Pistons, which will either be Game 5 against the Cavaliers or Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Final against a yet to be determined opponent.

Should the Pistons advance past the Cavaliers, it would mark their first Eastern Conference Final appearance since 2008 against the Boston Celtics.

Aidan Hutchinson Was Disappointed At Not Making The Playoffs

The 2025 NFL season marked the first time for the Lions that they didn’t play beyond the final game of the regular season since 2023.

While they earned a 9-8 record, it wasn’t good enough to get them into the NFL playoffs, and they also saw their two-year reign atop the NFC North Division come to a close.

For Hutchinson, that will be fuel for next season.

“As a player, it really felt in those critical games, we were not playing complementary football in those moments, and that’s really on all three phases,” Hutchinson said.

“It was sometimes offense, defense, special teams, it was a collective thing where little parts were letting us down and we were losing these close games,” he continued. “We ended up 9-8, but it just wasn’t enough to get us in. It was unfortunate, but we’re all looking forward to next year.”
