Tiger Woods will not play at the PGA Championship.

Tiger Woods continues to take a break from golf as the star previously announced plans to seek treatment following a car accident and subsequent arrest in March. Woods missed the Masters, including the annual champions dinner and will not play in the second major on the PGA Tour calendar.

The PGA Championship revealed the field of golfers for the May 14, tournament, and Woods is officially not playing. Woods received legal permission to seek treatment outside the United States amid privacy concerns.

“Tiger paid casual attention to the Masters, but is more focused on recovery,” a source told the New York Post during an April 18, story titled, “Inside Tiger Woods’ ‘intense’ physical, psychological treatment at 90-day rehab: report.”

“He’s getting both physical and psychological attention.”

Here’s the latest on Woods’ road to recovery amid a troubling 2026.

Tiger Woods Is Seeking Treatment in Zurich, Switzerland: Report

While Woods’ specific location has not been announced, the golfer is believed to be in Zurich, Switzerland, seeking treatment. Woods has not competed in a PGA Tour tournament since The Open Championship in July 2024.

It is unclear when or if Woods will return to golf in 2026.

“Tiger Woods is undergoing ‘intense’ psychological treatment at a three-month-long rehab center following his dramatic DUI bust last month, according to a report,” New York Post’s Katherine Donlevy detailed. “The golf great is believed to be receiving ‘physical and psychological attention’ at a facility in Zurich, Switzerland, where he is making tremendous strides in his alleged years-long painkiller abuse, a source close to Woods’ beau, Vanessa Trump, told the Daily Mail.

“’He’s got a pain management doctor who is helping him deal with his body pain without addictive opioids,’ the insider said, according to the outlet.”

Tiger Woods Missed Both the Masters & Now PGA Championship Amid Rehab

Back in March, Woods announced his decision to step away from golf “for a period of time.” Woods emphasized a commitment to “work towards lasting recovery.”

“I know and understand the seriousness of the situation I find myself in today,” Woods noted in a March 31, statement. “I am stepping away for a period of time to seek treatment and focus on my health.

“This is necessary in order for me to prioritize my well-being and work toward lasting recovery. I’m committed to taking the time needed to return in a healthier, stronger and more focused place, both personally and professionally,” Woods continued.

“I appreciate your understanding and support, and ask for privacy for my family, loved ones and myself at this time.”

Rory McIlroy Acknowledged Tiger Woods’ Absence at Masters

Ahead of the Masters champions dinner, Rory McIlroy emphasized that he planned to acknowledge Woods despite his absence. Days later, McIlroy would win his second straight green jacket, but Woods was watching from afar.

“Unfortunately, there will be a couple of guys that won’t be in that room, which is a shame, but I want to make sure that they’re acknowledged as well,” McIlroy told Golf Channel during Masters week, per Fox News’ Paulina Dedaj.

“They’ve been two of the greatest champions that the Masters has ever seen. But it’s going to be a really cool night. I can’t wait. I hope everyone enjoys the dinner and enjoys everything that I’ve selected.”
