Kenny Moore Draft

Defensive back Kenny Moore II originally signed with the New England Patriots as an undrafted free agent in 2017 out of Valdosta State before he was quickly claimed by the Indianapolis Colts after his release.

The Buffalo Bills are gearing up for the summer workout phase of their offseason in the coming weeks. While they will be hitting the field soon, that doesn’t mean they can’t continue adding players to their roster.

Typically, players who are still available on the open market and can contribute to a team begin signing free agent deals during the summer months, as teams look to fill their rosters for training camp. One player the Bills should consider targeting became available on Thursday.

Bills Should Look to Sign Kenny Moore

The Indianapolis Colts have decided to part ways with cornerback Kenny Moore after struggling to find a trade partner. Since April, the Colts have been seeking a deal for Moore, but there has been little interest from other teams. They likely would have even accepted a seventh-round pick in return, but the lack of a suitable trade opportunity led to this decision.

Moore has been in the NFL for nine seasons, making one Pro Bowl appearance in 2021. While his best days may be behind him, there’s still an opportunity for him to contribute to a team’s success. Joining a team like the Bills could be a great move for him at this stage in his career.

Sometimes players need a change of scenery, and that might be exactly what Moore needs. Heading to Buffalo could be the perfect opportunity for him, especially since the Bills have the potential to be the team to beat in the AFC this season.

Pro Football Focus ranked Moore as the 39th cornerback out of 114 last season, ranking him 58th in coverage and fifth in run defense.

Moore was entering the final year of a $30 million contract he signed in 2024, which included an average salary of $10 million. The good news for the Bills is that they wouldn’t have to pay him the full $10 million this season, as Spotrac recently estimated his market value to be around $5.6 million per season.

It wouldn’t hurt the Bills to sign Moore and see what he can contribute. If he doesn’t perform, there’s no need to worry since they didn’t give up anything to acquire him. On the other hand, if he plays well, Buffalo could secure a cornerstone player to bolster its defense.

Could Adding Moore Hurt Davison Igbinosun

The only concern with the Bills adding Moore is that it could limit Davison Igbinosun’s playing time and valuable reps. Buffalo drafted Igbinosun in the second round of the 2026 NFL Draft, and he has the potential to step in and start from Day 1. However, if the Bills do sign Moore, Igbinosun’s chances of starting immediately might not materialize.

Buffalo finds itself in a tricky position as it is aiming to win a Super Bowl. Veteran players have a good chance of helping the Bills achieve that goal, but the team is also focused on getting production from younger players. This is one of the reasons why they selected Igbinosun.

The Bills will need to consider whether to bring in a player like Moore, who could contribute to their immediate success, but may also limit Igbinosun’s playing time. Alternatively, they could allow Igbinosun to develop and gain experience during his first year of meaningful football.
