Og Anunoby #8 of the New York Knicks reacts during the game against the Portland Trail Blazers at Madison Square Garden on January 30, 2026 in New York City.

The New York Knicks were dealt a massive blow late in their Game 2 win over the Philadelphia 76ers on Wednesday night when OG Anunoby left the game in the fourth quarter with an apparent leg injury.

While there are no specifics yet about Anunoby’s injury, the Knicks are bracing for the impact of missing him in the NBA playoffs.

Among those were historically efficient offensive plays. According to StatMuse, Anunoby has the highest True Shooting Percentage (TS%) in a playoff run from someone averaging at least 20 points per game with 75.5 TS% (minimum five games played).

Highest TS% in a Playoff Run with 20+ PPG (minimum 5 games played):

75.5 — OG Anunoby (this playoffs) 71.9 — Khris Middleton (2018) 70.6 — Allan Houston (2001) 69.7 — Sidney Moncrief (1985)

OG Anunoby this playoffs — 21.4 PPG | 61.9% FG | 53.8% 3P | 81.1% FT

Hope he’s healthy

TS% offers a more accurate account of a player’s efficiency. It is an advanced metric that measures offensive efficiency by considering 2-point field goals, 3-point field goals, and free throw shots.

Anunoby’s rate leads some of the most offensively gifted players in NBA history, including Khris Middleton of the Milwaukee Bucks in 2018 (71.9 TS%), Alan Houston of the Knicks in 2001 (70.6 TS%), and Sidney Moncrief of the Bucks in 1985 (69.7 TS%).

Anunoby, also known for his defensive brilliance, is averaging 21.4 points and 7.5 rebounds per game while shooting 61.9 percent from the field, 53.8% from the 3-point line, and 81.1% from the free-throw line.

In Game 2, Anunoby played 37 minutes, putting up 24 points and five rebounds before going down with an injury with under three minutes left in the game.

Jalen Brunson, Mikal Bridges, and Josh Hart held down the Knicks fort even without Anunoby to secure the win and seal a 2-0 lead in the series against the 76ers.

Knicks Clueless About Anunoby’s Status

The Knicks are also clueless about Anunoby’s injury status. Just like the fans, all they knew was that Anunoby hobbled on the court late in Game 2.

“It looked like he was hopping, but I don’t know anything,” Knicks head coach Mike Brown said after Game 2, via ESPN. “They haven’t told me. I just know he left the game. Nobody said he was back. I haven’t talked to anybody yet.”

Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns also had no update about the status of their teammate after the victory.

“I’ll cross that bridge when I get to it. I don’t know too much,” Brunson said.

“I really don’t know. We’ll regroup tomorrow and see what the whole situation is,” Towns said.

Anunoby’s injury would throw a monkey wrench in the Knicks’ championship hopes, considering that they have emerged as the favorites to come out of the Eastern Conference with the way they took down the Atlanta Hawks and pummeled the 76ers in the first two games of the series.

Knicks Travel to Philadelphia

The Knicks still have one more day to regroup before clashing again with the 76ers in Game 3 of the East semis in Philadelphia.

The game is scheduled on Friday, May 8, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. Eastern time, before what is expected to be a hostile Philly environment.

Like Anunoby, Joel Embiid’s status for Game 3 is also uncertain after being a late scratch for the 76ers in Game 2.
