The Buffalo Bills have a knack for finding talent in their backyard, and could try again at this year’s rookie minicamp.
The Bills have found several key players from the University of Buffalo, including many who came to the team as undrated free agents. Though most of the Bulls on the roster are on the defensive side of the ball, the Bills are taking a close look at a standout UB quarterback at this year’s rookie minicamp.
The Bills invited UB quarterback Ta’Quan Roberson to this year’s minicamp, one of two rookie quarterbacks who will run drills at the two-day practices.
Roberson finished out his seven-year college career at UB in 2025, completing 57.7% of his passes for 2,520 yards with 17 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. He had several stops during his college career, playing three years at Penn State, two at Connecticut, and one at Kansas State.
Analyst Brian Dohn of 247 Sports noted that Roberson has plenty of good traits, including his mobility.
“Size is a concern, but not a deal breaker,” Dohn wrote. “Maximizes height with arm angle. Good arm strength and spins ball well. Delivery is free and easy. Throws into tight windows. Gets through progressions. Smart and competitive. Comfortable in pocket. Reacts to pressure well and finds throwing lanes. Poised and composed. Good footwork. Mobile and can gain yards with feet. Recognizes mismatches on pre-snap reads. Drops ball low on delivery at times. Does not always stride into throws. Needs to improve accuracy, especially when throwing outside. Multi-year starter at Power 5 program. NFL free agent.”
The Bills have found several players from UB in recent years, including one who turned a minicamp invite into a spot on the active roster. Linebacker Joe Andreessen first came to the team through an invite in 2024, then impressed enough to earn a contract that brought him back for training camp that summer.
Andreessen continued to shine, earning a spot on the final roster and a place on the team as a key reserve and special teams regular.
Bills Look at Another Rookie Quarterback
Central Connecticut State University announced that quarterback Brady Olson had accepted an invitation to Buffalo’s rookie minicamp. Olson is coming off a successful two-year stint at the FCS school and will now start his NFL journey with the Bills.
The Bills also brought in rookie quarterback Brady Olson from Central Connecticut State University for minicamp. As the Bristol Press reported, Olson shared his excitement about starting his NFL journey at Buffalo’s rookie minicamp.
“It means a lot, super grateful for the opportunity and really excited to get to Buffalo,” Olson said.
His agent, Blaise Rosati of NXT ERA Partners, added that Olson was disappointed he went undrafted, but excited to show off for the Bills.
“It was a tough draft for quarterbacks with a lot of talent still on the board when the draft ended,” Rosati said. “We’re excited for Brady to get his shot with an organization like the Bills. He’s put in the work to earn it, and we believe he can go in there, compete, and show he belongs. The work is just getting started!”
