Gina Carano

Women’s MMA pioneer Gina Carano says she has lost 100 lbs ahead of her comeback fight against Ronda Rousey on Netflix this Saturday.

Carano fights for the first time since 2009 when she takes on Rousey tomorrow night in a five-round women’s featherweight bout. Now 44 years old, this is an incredible comeback from one of the most respected women’s MMA fighters of all time, regardless of how the fight plays out. For someone who has spent the last 17 years on the sidelines, the fact that Carano is stepping back into the cage in itself is a massive achievement, especially given what she has gone through over the years.

With her comeback fight just one day away, Carano is admitting that what it took to get here was a lot harder than anyone could have ever expected.

Gina Carano Reveals Shocking Weight Loss Ahead of Comeback

Taking to her social media the day before her fight with Rousey, Carano made an honest admission that she’s lost 100 lbs ahead of her MMA comeback.

“Ok. Vulnerable post but here we are. I just weighed in at 141.4 lbs. Since Sept 2024 to today, May 15, 2026, I have lost 100lbs. It hurts to say that and share but I am going to share it because I worked so damn hard every week for over a year and a half to shed this weight. It did not happen overnight. If it wasn’t for having this incredibly challenging goal in fighting @rondarousey I most definitely wouldn’t have reached this. I was pre-diabetic, had trouble simply walking in September and have been on the path to recovery to turn myself back into an athlete since then. It was hard, SO damn hard.. there was so much to learn, too much to unpack here, ups, downs, plateaus, things I learned late I wish I learned earlier, trial by error but I did it. Thank you to Ronda, who waited patiently while I lost this weight and giving me something to aim for. There is still so much I need to learn and want to do in the health space and to continue transforming my body, but for today, I thank God, my husband and my family for sticking with and encouraging me the whole way. I pray this encourages you wherever you are in your health journey. Believe there is hope. Never give up. Ok.. enough emo, I’ve got a fight tomorrow. We’ve worked so hard to get here. Tune in!!” Carano wrote on her Instagram.

Gina Carano is a Big Underdog Against Ronda Rousey

According to the latest betting odds, Carano is a +465 betting underdog against Rousey, the former UFC women’s bantamweight champion, who is a -615 betting favorite for this women’s featherweight fight.

Since Rousey, a former Olympic gold medal-winning judoka, has a massive advantage when it comes to grappling, it makes sense that she is favored. But if this fight stays on the feet, Carano should have the cleaner kickboxing and, thus, a puncher’s chance to win the fight.

It all goes down on Saturday night at Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California. The main card for MVP MMA: Rousey vs. Carano begins at 9 p.m. ET on Netflix.
