The Toronto Maple Leafs' surprisingly decent goaltending situation has drawn plenty of attention from others teams around the league.

With their 5-2 loss to the Anaheim Ducks in Game 6 on Thursday night, the Edmonton Oilers‘ playoff run has come to a frustrating end. After entering the series viewed as the favorites, the Oilers fell to the Ducks in just six games. When noting that the Oilers made back-to-back Stanley Cup Finals in 2024 and 2025, this playoff run was undoubtedly a bad one for the Oilers.

Now, the Oilers are entering the offseason with some massive questions surrounding them. They need to address multiple roster issues this summer if they hope to have more success in 2026-27. However, this is especially the case when it comes to their goaltending.

After acquiring Tristan Jarry from the Pittsburgh Penguins earlier this season, the expectation was that he would provide the Oilers with a much-needed upgrade between the pipes. Instead, Jarry has struggled immensely since joining the Oilers and even lost the No. 1 job to Connor Ingram. As for Ingram, he had some real struggles during the playoffs and is a pending unrestricted free agent.

With this, the Oilers need to be on the hunt for a new goaltender this offseason. Let’s look at three goalies they should consider targeting this summer because of it.

Oilers Should Kick Tires on Wild’s Filip Gustavsson

Jesper Wallstedt has stolen the Minnesota Wild’s crease this postseason. Due to this, it would make a lot of sense for the Oilers to kick tires on Filip Gustavsson this offseason. If the Wild listened to offers for Gustavsson due to Wallstedt’s breakout, it would not be surprising if the Oilers targeted him.

Gustavsson would provide the Oilers with a long-term answer for their No. 1 goalie job. This is because the 27-year-old’s five-year, $34 million contract extension does not kick in until next season. In 50 games this season with Minnesota, he had a 28-15-4 record, a .904 save percentage, a 2.69 goals-against average, and four shutouts.

Oilers Need to Make Major Push for Sergei Bobrovsky If He Leaves Panthers

If Sergei Bobrovsky ends up testing the free-agent market instead of re-signing with the Florida Panthers, he would instantly need to become the Oilers’ top free-agent target. The 37-year-old would give the Oilers a two-time Vezina Trophy winner who also beat them in the Stanley Cup Final twice.

Bobrovsky struggled this season with Florida, as evidenced by his .877 save percentage and 3.07 goals-against average in 52 games. Yet, when looking at how fantastic of a resume he has, he is undoubtedly a big bounce-back candidate for the 2026-27 season. Thus, it would make sense for the Oilers to take a gamble on him.

Oilers Should Keep An Eye on Maple Leafs’ Joseph Woll

The Toronto Maple Leafs have a surplus of goaltenders, and it is certainly possible that one of them will be on the move this summer. While Anthony Stolarz could very well be the most likely, Joseph Woll is the Maple Leafs goalie who they should have on their radar.

If the Maple Leafs are open to moving Woll, he would have the potential to be a strong pickup for Edmonton. While he had an .899 save percentage and 3.34 goals-against average in 39 games this season, his past success makes him a fascinating potential target. Just back in 2024-25, he had a 27-14-1 record, a .909 save percentage, and a 2.73 goals-against average in 42 games.
