The Boston Red Sox made a huge decision to fire manager Alex Cora on Saturday afternoon, after the team’s poor start.

Taking Cora’s place is former WooSox manager Chad Tracy, and it’s unclear at this moment if the team will look for a full-time manager or just roll with Tracy as the interim for now. For what it’s worth, the Red Sox took the series from the Baltimore Orioles over the weekend after winning the final games on Saturday and Sunday. When Roman Anthony spoke with reporters, he made it very clear that he still has high aspirations for this season.

Roman Anthony Still Has High Aspirations for Red Sox This Season

Speaking with reporters, Roman Anthony sent an honest message about what he thinks about this Red Sox team:

“We can still win the World Series,” Anthony told reporters. “I know people on the outside probably don’t agree with that, and a lot of s–t’s going on right now. But for us, and for myself—at least I can speak for myself—the standard for me remains the same. My commitment to this team, this city, these people, is still the exact same. I still feel the same way. I love where I play, and I want to be here for a long time.”

There were several reports of players frustrated with the move to fire Cora, including clubhouse leader Trevor Story, and many players detailed that they were not able to ask questions to front office members about the firing. It’s a messy situation in Boston, but perhaps the Red Sox can no on a little run despite their old manager being removed from the clubhouse.

Can the Boston Red Sox Still Win the World Series?

The Red Sox have fallen back a bit in the AL East standings, but there’s still 130+ games left to be played, and no team has ever been officially ‘out’ of contention in April.

Boston needs a lot of things to go in their favor, including the New York Yankees to start losing some games, and for the Blue Jays to stay down as well.

The series win against the Orioles is a good start. Roman Anthony is back after battling with a sore back issue that kept him out for most of last week.

It’s difficult for any team in MLB to win the World Series, and Boston fans should at least be pleased that its star, Roman Anthony, is at least still fully bought into this season.

As for his comments, maybe we can look back on them in the middle of July and see how the Red Sox fare in the standings at that point.
