Stefon Diggs with the New England Patriots

It is no secret that the 2025 season was a rough year for the New York Giants. They finished the campaign with an ugly 4-13 record and at the bottom of the NFC East standings. With this, it was a year to forget for the Giants, and they will be looking to have more success during the 2026 season because of it.

Yet, when looking at the Giants’ roster, it is clear that they have some serious needs to address if they hope to be more competitive next season. One of them is undoubtedly another impactful wide receiver, as it is apparent that they need to strengthen their depth at the position.

Due to this, the Giants are now being viewed as a top potential landing spot for one of the NFL’s top remaining free agents at this point in the offseason.

New York Giants Named Potential Landing Spot for Former Patriots Wide Receiver Stefon Diggs

In a recent article for Sports Illustrated, Mike Kadlick took a look at a few potential free-agent destinations for Stefon Diggs. Among the teams that Kadlick listed as a top possible landing spot for Diggs were the Giants.

“Diggs transformed himself from a big-play receiver into a security blanket and high-volume target for the Patriots last season, and in a Giants offense made up primarily of home-run hitters, could serve a similar role for Dart in 2026,” Kadlick wrote.

When looking at the Giants’ current roster, there is no question that Diggs would be a significant addition if they added him. He would immediately become one of their top wide receivers if signed and would help strengthen the Giants’ roster because of it.

Diggs’ 2025 season with the Patriots shows that he is still capable of making an impact when playing, too. In 17 games this past season with New England, Diggs recorded four touchdowns, 85 receptions, and 1,013 receiving yards. With numbers like these, it is clear that he would have the potential to be a great addition to a Giants club that needs more help on offense.

Due to this, the Giants could be a team to watch closely in the Diggs sweepstakes as the offseason carries on. The fit looks very strong on paper between the Giants and the four-time Pro Bowl wide receiver, but time will tell if they end up getting a deal done together.

Giants Likely Will Have Competition If They Target Diggs

With Diggs now being the top wide receiver left in free agency, it is very likely that the Giants will have some competition if they try to sign him. This is especially so when noting that he has been a high-impact wide receiver for several seasons now. It also doesn’t hurt that he has recorded over 1,000 receiving yards in seven out of his last eight seasons. The only year he didn’t out of that span was in 2024 with the Houston Texans, but he was limited to only eight games.

Yet, with the Giants needing another wide receiver, it would make sense if they had Diggs on their radar. Let’s see if they end up targeting him from here.
