Kristoffer Reitan won $3.6 million at the Truist Championship.

Kristoffer Reitan banked $3.6 million for securing his first PGA Tour victory at the 2026 Truist Championship, but he’s no stranger to large chunks of change. The golfer’s grandfather, Odd Reitan, is a Norwegian retail tycoon worth nearly $9 billion. He ranks 403rd on Forbes‘ list of the richest billionaires in the world.

Reitan has a bright future as a professional golfer, but it must be relieving to know he has a massive inheritance coming his way if his PGA Tour career fizzles out.

Kristoffer Reitan’s first career victory! 🏆 🇳🇴

He’s just the second player from Norway to win on the PGA TOUR, joining Viktor Hovland.

Most American golf fans just learned about Reitan after his impressive victory at the Truist Championship. The 28-year-old bested a loaded field at Quail Hollow Club to score the first PGA Tour win of his career in his rookie season, but European fans have known Reitan and his family for years.

Reitan’s grandfather, Odd, is the owner and CEO of Reitan AS (formerly Reitangruppen), one of the largest grocery store chains in Norway. Reitan AS owns thousands of grocery and convenience stores across Scandinavia and the Baltic. As of May 11, 2026, Odd has a net worth of $8.8 billion, per Forbes.

Kristoffer’s father, Magnus, joined Odd in the family business and now serves as a Board Member of Reitan Retail. Kristoffer, though, took a different path.

Reitan always dreamed of becoming a professional golfer. A successful amateur career put him on the right path, but it took him a while to gain his footing in the professional ranks. After bouncing around between the DP World Tour and the Challenge Tour for years, Reitan won the Soudal Open in 2025 and recorded nine more top-13 finishes to punch his ticket to the PGA Tour for the 2026 season.

Reitan Is Making a Name for Himself on the PGA Tour

GettyKristoffer Reitan is quickly stepping out of his grandfather’s shadow.

After growing up in the shadow of his wealthy family, Reitan is beginning to carve out his own legacy as a professional golfer.

The PGA Tour rookie recorded only one top-40 finish in his first seven starts this season, but he’s been brilliant ever since. Reitan finished T10 at the Valero Texas Open, T41 at the Masters in his tournament debut, T2 at the Zurich Classic of New Orleans alongside fellow Norwegian Kris Ventura and T14 at the Cadillac Championship.

In his most recent start, Reitan outplayed Rory McIlroy, Cameron Young and 70 of the best golfers in the world to win the Truist Championship at Quail Hollow. He birdied two of his last five holes and made multiple clutch par putts down the stretch to secure his first PGA Tour victory and a two-year exemption.

After sinking his final putt to become just the second Norwegian to ever win on the PGA Tour, Reitan was quick to thank his parents for their support through the years.

“It’s amazing,” Reitan told CBS. “I mean, they have made golf a very, very high priority in our household. Every single Christmas, we would go somewhere where I could play golf or compete. So they have definitely made a great, great effort to at least help me get to the place I am today, and I couldn’t be more grateful.”

It’s not easy to make a name for yourself when your grandfather is the owner of a $9 billion fortune, but Reitan is well on his way.
