Baltimore Ravens wide receiver Zay Flowers.

The Baltimore Ravens have announced that they have picked up Zay Flowers’ fifth-year option.

“Sources: The #Ravens are picking up the 5th year option on WR Zay Flowers.” Jordan Schultz wrote on his official X account. “He will earn $28M in 2027 since he has made two Pro Bowls.”

This will set up a big payday for Flowers in 2027 due to his pro bowls in 2024 and 2025.

“Flowers, 25, is currently set to play the 2026 season under a $4.5 million cap hit. He will receive a significant raise in 2027 thanks in part to his Pro Bowl nods in 2024 and 2025, which raised the cost of his fifth-year option to the maximum salary.” Julia Stumbaugh wrote in a Bleacher Report article.

Zay Flowers Has Exceeded Expectations

With Flowers still being on a rookie deal, he has outperformed it completely. Zay Flowers has established himself as the Ravens number one wideout. The Pro Bowler is coming off back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons.

“Flowers has already outperformed the expectations tied to his rookie deal. A former first-round selection and now a two-time Pro Bowler, he has quickly become one of Lamar Jackson’s most reliable and explosive weapons. Production like that doesn’t typically come at a bargain, yet Baltimore is currently benefiting from exactly that.” Geoffrey A Knox wrote in a Ravens Wire article.

The first-round draft pick in 2023 caught 86 passes in the 2025 season. Flowers ranked 7th in total receiving yards with 1,211. In 2023, he recorded 858 yards and 5 touchdowns. In 2024, he recorded 1,059 yards and 4 touchdowns. Out of all of Baltimore’s receivers over the past three years, Flowers has been the most consistent.

Before the Baltimore Ravens picked up Zay Flowers’ option, Flowers was listed as one of the NFL’s most underpaid players.

“Another 2023 first rounder who has continued to rise, Flowers is coming off a 1,211-yard, six-touchdown campaign at the age of 25. Like [Will] McDonald and [Drake] Maye, he’ll inevitably become very expensive soon. For now, his $4.5 million 2026 cap hit ranks 50th among active receivers.” Brad Gagnon wrote in a Bleacher Report article.

Over his three-year career, he has recorded 237 receptions with 3,128 yards and 14 total touchdowns.

Ravens Expected to Endure Cap Hit in 2027

“Baltimore’s front office will have some accounting to do before the 2027 season starts because the team is already projected to be $13.4 million over the cap without factoring in Flowers’ salary.” Julia Stumbaugh wrote in the Bleacher Report article. “Activating the option could give the Ravens more time to potentially work out a long-term extension for Flowers, who has served as Lamar Jackson’s top receiver for the last three seasons.”

Ravens Fans will hope that Baltimore signs Flowers to a long-term deal. The priority now becomes to get another productive wide receiver to go along with Flowers’ production. Zay Flowers could be in for another big year especially with Lamar Jackson at the helm.

The NFL Draft will take place tonight at 8 p.m.  According to multiple reports, the Baltimore Ravens will be primarily looking for offensive linemen, wide receivers, and pass rushers. This Zay Flowers news serves as a great start to draft day.
