The New York Mets‘ losing streak is finally over! After defeating the Minnesota Twins 3-2 on Wednesday evening, the Mets IMPROVED to 8-16 this season.

New York welcomed Juan Soto back into the lineup, and having him back clearly helped out in some way. However, other Mets’ All-Star Francisco Lindor had to be removed from the Twins game with calf tightness. Calf tightness is the same injury that sidelined Juan Soto.

After the Mets picked up their first win since April 7, manager Carlos Mendoza issued a Francisco Lindor update.

Anthony McCarron wrote (on April 22): “Francisco Lindor is going for an MRI tomorrow, Carlos Mendoza said. That’ll give them more info, but, as Mendoza acknowledged, “We’re talking about a calf.” Mendy added the Mets “got relatively good news with Soto” and Soto was still out three weeks.”

It looked like Lindor might’ve tweaked his calf while rounding the bases.

Mets fans will once again hold their breath, but Lindor going down to injury certainly wouldn’t be welcome. The initial diagnosis doesn’t seem entirely promising. Lindor wouldn’t have been removed from the game if it weren’t something serious.

Did Carlos Mendoza Save His Job After Wednesday Night’s Win?

The Mets finally won a baseball game! So does that mean Carlos Mendoza is potentially off the hot seat?

New York will likely have to put together a little winning streak for hope to be restored in Queens, but Wednesday night’s win is a start. A game finally went the Mets’ way for the first time in two weeks. It’s not like there had been any real reports that the Mets were considering firing Mendoza, but if the losing ways continued (and continue), Mendoza’s job may be in jeopardy.

Francisco Lindor’s 2026 Season

Francisco Lindor has played in all 23 games this season for the Mets. In 91 at-bats, he is batting .209 with two doubles, two triples, and two home runs.

The 32-year-old Lindor broke his Hamate bone before the start of the season. It’s not the best start to a season in his career, but barring this calf injury isn’t too serious, Lindor has time to turn things around.

However, there is probably a strong correlation to Lindor’s struggles and the Mets’ overall struggles.
