Klay Thompson cheated on Meg
The internet has been buzzing since Megan Thee Stallion publicly accused Dallas Mavericks guard Klay Thompson of cheating, triggering one of the biggest celebrity breakups of 2026.
But while the drama played out online, Thompson had a very different response; he took to the ocean. The Mavericks star appeared on Instagram Live just days after the split, looking completely unbothered and sending a loud, wordless message to everyone watching.
Klay Thompson said, “God, it feels good to be back.” on his Instagram live.

Megan first addressed the split on her Instagram Stories, writing: “Cheating, had me around your whole family playing house… got ‘cold feet.’ Holding you down through your HORRIBLE mood swings and treatment towards me during your basketball season. Now you don’t know if you can be ‘monogamous’???? I need a REAL break after this one.”
She later confirmed the breakup in a statement to TMZ. “Trust, fidelity and respect are non-negotiable for me in a relationship, and when those values are compromised, there’s no real path forward,” Megan said.
ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith became one of the loudest voices defending Thompson amid the fallout. While not excusing cheating, Smith questioned why Megan went public at all.
“The public at large did not know this man’s business at all — until Saturday night,” Smith said. “He is not a whatever. He is Klay Thompson. He is the other half of the Splash Brothers.”
Smith also noted Thompson’s restraint throughout the drama. “I’ve never seen him utter a negative word about Megan the Stallion,” Smith added.

The spark came from a podcast hosted by the outspoken commentator Madame Joyce. She drew sharp parallels between Megan and Klay Thompson’s public profiles and between Cardi B and NFL receiver Stefon Diggs, arguing that female celebrities wield social power that is consistently overlooked.
“We didn’t know Klay Thompson before Meg Thee Stallion. We didn’t know Stefon Diggs before Cardi B,” Joyce stated flatly. She added that while these athletes may have more money, “these girls have social and global influence.”
The logic, in her view, was simple: Megan’s global reach across music, social media, and pop culture put Klay Thompson in front of audiences who would have otherwise never known his name.
It was a provocative framing one that ignored Thompson’s 18-year NBA career, four championship rings, and status as one half of the legendary Splash Brothers alongside Stephen Curry.
