UFC flyweight fighter Jamey-Lyn Horth has reacted to her robbery decision loss to JJ Aldrich at last weekend’s UFC Winnipeg event.

In one of the most controversial scoring decisions of the year, all three cageside judges at UFC Winnipeg scored the fight 29-28 for Aldrich, giving the underdog the unanimous decision win. Fans and media were left stunned by the decision, as it seemed a foregone conclusion that Horth would get her hand raised at the end of 15 minutes. The sportsbooks, in fact, had Horth listed as a -15000 betting favorite at the bell, essentially saying she was a sure thing to get her hand raised.

Instead, the judges robbed Horth and gave the nod to Aldrich instead. Instead of having a 5-2 UFC record, Horth is now 4-3, and the Canadian’s two-fight winning streak was snapped.

Speaking to MMA reporter Nolan King of MMAjunkie.com in the days after her interview, Horth admitted she was surprised the judges scored the fight for Aldrich, and she said her opponent was equally as shocked by the outcome of the fight.

“I would say we were completely confident we won that fight, and even I think when her hand was raised, (Aldrich) didn’t smile. She didn’t look happy at all,” Horth said.

Jamey-Lyn Horth Belives UFC Matchmakers Will Treat the Loss as a Win

Despite getting the loss on paper, Horth believes the UFC matchmakers will treat the loss as a win. Typically, when a fighter loses in the UFC, they are matched up against someone else coming off a loss in their next fight. But when a decision is so egregious that most people feel the fighter got robbed, the UFC matchmakers may essentially treat the loss as a win, and Horth believes that will be the case.

“I know my agents are very much connected with the matchmakers and the team with the UFC, and I trust that they’ll get me set up and sort of figure things out. That’s kind of why I think I have this weird intuitive feeling in my gut that something’s gonna happen, and I just don’t know what it is,” Horth said.

“But I really do feel like there’s been some conversations with my agent (Jason House) and some of the UFC team, and they felt sort of along the lines of, ‘What the (expletive)?’ And yeah, I hope that having a loss on my record is one thing, but it’s just like the trajectory of which I feel like I was climbing and sort of getting favorable fights or matchups and being treated as, ‘maybe this was just a mistake that we just can’t actually overturn, but we can sort of work on.'”

Fans and Media Overwhelmingly Thought Jamey-Lyn Horth Won the Fight

According to MMADecisions.com, nine of 10 tracked media scorecards had Horth winning the fight, with eight media members scoring the bout 30-27 in her favor. When it comes to fan scoring, 91.2% of 177 fans who scored the bout had Horth winning, including 70.1% of fans believing she had won the fight 30-27.

According to the official UFC Stats page, Horth outstruck Aldrich 70 to 50 in the fight, and outstruck her opponent in all three rounds. Yet, the judges for some reason decided to rob her on the scorecards, meaning Horth only got half her money, as the UFC operates on a show money and win bonus model.
