San Francisco Giants' center fielder, Harrison Bader
The San Francisco Giants have made multiple roster moves over the last few days. The Giants announced that center fielder Harrison Bader returned from rehab and was reinstated from the 10-day IL.
The major league club also recalled while optioning backup catcher Logan Porter and right-handed reliever Dylan Smith to Triple-A.
The Giants’ Opening Day starting center fielder, Harrison Bader, will return to the team after going on the 10-day IL with a left hamstring strain. He has been sidelined since mid-April. But Bader had a successful rehab assignment and even hit a home run for the Triple-A Sacramento Rivercats.
But Bader has struggled offensively early in the season. The center fielder only has a .115 batting average with 5 hits in 52 at-bats.
San Francisco called up outfielder Drew Gilbert to man the center field position while Bader was out. Gilbert has collected 15 hits in 65 at-bats with 2 home runs and 7 RBIs during his time with the major league club this season. The young left-handed batter will remain with the Giants and can be used either off the bench or as a platoon option alongside the right-handed-hitting Bader.
Bader will return to the Giants’ lineup tonight against the Los Angeles Dodgers. He is batting 8th and returning to center field.

Right-handed pitcher Tristan Beck was also recalled from Triple-A Sacramento. Beck has pitched a lot of innings over his three-year career for the Giants.
He has a 3.94 career ERA and has pitched more than 150 innings for the big league club. He has 5 career starts, but will primarily be used as a long reliever for San Francisco.
Subsequently, the Giants sent down Dylan Smith, who pitched 0.2 innings of shutout ball in their 7-6 extra-inning win against the Pirates on Sunday.
San Francisco will look to get back on track during a tough 10-game road trip. This includes a four-game series against the Dodgers and three-game series against the A’s and Diamondbacks.
The Giants currently hold a 16-24 record. They sit fourth in the NL West and are 8 games back of the division lead.
