Mets make plethora of roster moves
The New York Mets have made plenty of roster moves before their game against the Cincinnati Reds on Tuesday.
New York announced five moves prior to the game, while another 40-man move has to be made before the first pitch.
We have made the following roster moves.
The Mets activated A.J. Minter from the 60-day injured list, and activated Jared Young from the 10-day injured list. Nick Morabito and Jonathan Pintaro were optioned to Triple-A.
Then, the Mets announced that outfielder Tyrone Taylor was placed on the 10-day IL with a right hip flexor strain. To replace Taylor, New York selected the contract of Eric Wagaman, while the team announced a corresponding 40-man roster move will be announced prior to Tuesday’s game against the Marlins.
Wagaman has spent parts of two years in the MLB. He made his debut in 2024 with the Los Angeles Angels, appearing in 18 games, hitting .250 with 2 home runs and 10 RBIs.
Wagaman then played for the Miami Marlins in 2025, appearing in 140 games, hitting .250 with 9 home runs and 53 RBIs. Although Wagaman was selected to the MLB roster, he won’t be in the lineup on Tuesday.
Following the roster moves, the Mets revealed their lineup for the second of a three-game home series against the Reds.
New York is coming off a 7-2 loss to Cincinnati on Monday, and the Mets’ lineup on Tuesday is as follows:
New York will also be starting David Peterson, who will be making his seventh start this season in his 12th appearance.
The right-hander is 3-4 with a 5.03 ERA in 11 games, as he’s been used as a bulk reliever this season, after starting 30 games for the Mets last season.
The Mets got off to a horrible start, and New York’s struggles have continued.
Following the team’s blowout loss to the Reds on Monday, manager Carlos Mendoza said the team has no excuses and needs to find answers ASAP.
“They are struggling. We are having problems putting rallies together,” Mendoza said. “… When you look at a night like tonight, we had nine hits, [no] walks. It’s hard to score three or four runs on singles. You have to be able to drive the ball. We are having a hard time doing that.”
On Monday, Nolan McLean was hit hard, which is a concern, but Mendoza has confidence he will figure it out in his next start.
“He is going to get back on track. His stuff is too good for this to keep going,” Mendoza said. “We’ll go back, do some homework and try to help him. It sucks that it happens in back-to-back outings, especially in the middle of this stretch. He’ll get back on track.”
New York is now 22-32 and in last place in the NL East.
