Steelers get update on Aaron Rodgers.
The Pittsburgh Steelers are extremely close to bringing back legendary quarterback Aaron Rodgers for at least one more run. According to NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, Rodgers is set to visit the Steelers in the coming days. While he acknowledged that a deal has not been agreed to just yet, things are heading in that direction.
Rapoport also took time on Thursday via social media to share insight on what a potential new contract could look like for both sides. He believes that the four-time MVP is likely not going to play for $15 million or more this year, which is what the UFA tender dictates.

Last season, Rodgers signed a one-year contract for just under $14 million. At almost 43 years of age, it doesn’t seem like both sides are interested in agreeing to terms on some mega deal. A one-year deal for less than $15 million makes complete sense. Remember, Rodgers has made all of the money he can make as an NFL quarterback. At this point in his career, money is not a motivator.
The important thing is that Rodgers is likely going to be a Steeler this season. His storied career appears like it is going to continue. Assuming this visit goes well, he will be set to reunite with his former head coach on the Green Bay Packers, Mike McCarthy.

With McCarthy’s longtime experience as a quarterback guru and offensive play-caller, Pittsburgh has a great chance to improve on its total offensive ranking from a season ago (25th). He and Rodgers worked together for 13 total seasons (2006-2018) in Green Bay, making the playoffs eight times, winning five NFC North titles, earning their way to three NFC Championship Games, and bringing home Super Bowl XLV. Rodgers won two of his four career MVPs and made seven Pro Bowls under McCarthy’s leadership.
Rodgers recorded 25 total touchdowns and threw just seven interceptions under former head coach Mike Tomlin’s stewardship in 2025. While he wasn’t his 2011 self, who was at the peak of his powers, he was still very valuable and was perhaps the biggest reason why the team won its first AFC North title in five years. With the significant additions that were made in the offseason by GM Omar Khan, including that of two-time 1,000-yard wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr., this roster could be ready to win more than it did in 2025.
