NBA superstar Anthony Edwards is officially questionable heading into Game 2 of the Minnesota Timberwolves vs San Antonio Spurs second-round playoff series as he continues to deal with a knee injury suffered in the previous round.

Edwards went down with a bone bruise and hyperextension in his left knee while the Timberwolves were playing the Denver Nuggets, an injury that was expected to keep him out for two weeks.

But in news that surprised the NBA world, Edwards returned for Game 1 of Minnesota’s second-round series against San Antonio in just nine days. He was on a minute restriction in that first matchup and came off the bench, but his fourth-quarter scoring outburst helped lead the Timberwolves to an opening game win.

Now, he is officially questionable for Game 2.

Timberwolves Announce Anthony Edwards Injury Update For Game 2 Vs Spurs

GettySAN ANTONIO, TEXAS – MAY 04: Anthony Edwards #5 of the Minnesota Timberwolves looks on during the second half of a game against the San Antonio Spurs in Game One of the Second Round of the NBA Western Conference Playoffs at Frost Bank Center on May 04, 2026 in San Antonio, Texas.

In the lead-up to Game 2, the Timberwolves have Edwards listed as questionable as they hope to add to their 1-0 series lead.

Edwards played just 25 minutes in Game 1 and scored 18 points, including 11 that came in the fourth quarter in the win. After the contest, he told reporters that he felt great, but he still landed on the Timberwolves’ injury report ahead of Game 2.

Before he was listed as questionable, Minnesota head coach Chris Finch said that Edwards and his knee were ‘so far, so good’ after Game 1, but didn’t comment on whether the star would see an increase in his minute restriction as the series goes on.

“Chris Finch said Anthony Edwards’ left knee came through Game 1 well to this point: “So far, so good.” Edwards will get light work and treatment later today in San Antonio. No word on whether he can up Edwards’ minutes beyond that 25 range in Game 2,” Anthony Slater of ESPN wrote in a post on X.

On NBA Today, Slater added that as Edwards hasn’t fully recovered from his injury, despite being medically cleared for Game 1, the star will undergo further treatment ahead of the second matchup of the series.

Shams Charania of ESPN, Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic, and even Edwards himself highlighted the intense recovery process the star went through in order to be healthy to star the Timberwolves’ second round series against the Spurs.

While he did have a slow start, Edwards was crucial in Minnesota taking the early 1-0 lead. Still, as he continues to work back from his second major knee injury suffered in the past month and a half, he’s now officially questionable for Game 1 of the conference semifinals.

Ayo Dosunmu Injury Update After Missing Game 1 For Minnesota

GettyMINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA – APRIL 25: Ayo Dosunmu #13 of the Minnesota Timberwolves walks off the floor after Game Four of the First Round of the 2026 NBA Western Conference Playoffs against the Denver Nuggets at Target Center on April 25, 2026 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The Timberwolves defeated the Nuggets 112-96.

Though Edwards was able to suit up in Game 1 to help the Timberwolves grab a win, Minnesota was without Ayo Dosunmu for the contest, as he was ruled out, dealing with right calf soreness stemming from an injury he suffered in the regular season.

Dosunmu was already becoming a bigger part of Finch’s rotation since he was acquired at the trade deadline, but after Donte DiVincenzo went down for the rest of the season with a torn Achilles tendon, the Timberwolves started to rely on the guard even more.

However, he missed both the end of the Timberwolves’ series against the Nuggets and the start of their series against the Spurs. But despite that, like Edwards’ injury status, Dosunmu is also officially questionable for Game 2 in San Antonio.

Without DiVincenzo, Dosunmu is now one of Minnesota’s lead guards. With him healthy, it takes a bit of the playmaking responsibility out of Edwards’ hands, and instead lets him take on his main role as the team’s engine on offense. Still, Dosunmu had a career-high 43 points after Edwards and DiVincenzo went down, and they’ll need both his scoring and passing to upset the Spurs.

Minnesota @Timberwolves Status Report in advance of tomorrow’s Game 2 at San Antonio Spurs:

QUESTIONABLE Dosunmu- Right Calf Injury Maintenance Edwards- Left Knee Bone Bruise

OUT DiVincenzo- Right Achilles Tendon Repair

For now, both Edwards and Dosunmu are questionable for Game 2, while DiVincenzo is out. Edwards was critical of himself after Game 1, and while he didn’t directly address his injury status going forward, the star could be at risk of missing the Timberwolves’ next matchup.
