Being a full-time WWE competitor can be risky business, as wrestlers risk life and limb each time they enter the ring.

For one WWE Superstar, the risk was twofold, as she competed with a life-threatening heart condition.

Chelsea Green, the inaugural WWE Women’s United States Champion, has lived with SVT, which causes an irregular heartbeat, for the last decade.

Thankfully, following a successful heart procedure, the WWE star is on the road to recovery.

The 35-year-old revealed the news on Tuesday, May 5, as she shared a photo from her hospital bed on Instagram.

“After 10 years, doctors finally caught my SVT and I was able to get a heart procedure done! 3 hours later and I’m on the mend,” Green captioned the post.

She was joined in the selfie by her husband, fellow WWE star Matt Cardona, whom she married in December 2021.

According to the Mayo Clinic, SVT (supraventricular tachycardia) is a “type of irregular heartbeat, also called an arrhythmia. It’s a very fast or erratic heartbeat that affects the heart’s upper chambers.” During SVT, a person’s heart beats about 150 to 220 times a minute, compared to the typical range of 60 to 100 times a minute.

On Tuesday, the two-time WWE Women’s United States Champion added on X: “My latest episode during WrestleMania pushed my resting heart rate to 228 for almost 15 minutes. Yesterday, Dr. Girgis spent 3 hours working on me… and I had to be awake for the last hour of the procedure!! ”

Chelsea Green Could Make In-Ring Return Soon

Despite the scary diagnosis, Chelsea Green said the procedure was minimally invasive and expected to be back to work soon.

For Green, it is the second time she’s been sidelined with health issues.

The SmackDown star suffered an ankle injury that shelved her for several months and kept her off the WrestleMania 42 card.

In February, Green and Ethan Page dropped the AAA World Mixed Tag Team Championship to Mr. Iguana and Lola Vice.

Chelsea Green Appeared on SmackDown During Injury

Despite the gruesome ankle injury she suffered at Elimination Chamber, Chelsea Green continued to appear on WWE programming.

In recent weeks, Green has done her best to befriend newly crowned Women’s United States Champion Tiffany Stratton.

Tiffany Stratton is currently scheduled to defend the WWE Women’s United States Championship against Kiana James this Friday on SmackDown. Stratton mentioned last week that she intends to introduce the open challenge format for this title, much like Sami Zayn, Ilja Dragunov, and Carmelo Hayes did with the men’s version of the title over the last year.

Matt Cardona Not Among WWE Releases

Once Chelsea Green returns, she will be reunited with her husband Matt Cardona on SmackDown.

Cardona, a former United States Champion, was not among the dozens of WWE stars released in recent weeks.

For Green, the WWE Universe is hoping for a speedy recovery.
