Rickie Fowler climbed the leaderboard at the Truist Championship, but the star began the week with a heartfelt gesture to his wife, Allison Stokke. The moment came days before Fowler could be seen wearing his signature orange during Sunday’s final round at the Truist Championship.

The Sunday orange is a fashion move Fowler has done since the start of his career on the PGA Tour as a nod to his alma mater Oklahoma State (the school’s colors are orange and black). Days earlier, Fowler surprised his wife with flowers as part of a community event the couple did at the Truist Championship.

The PGA Tour posted a video of Fowler and Stokke giving back to Charlotte area families. Fowler worked with kids on the putting green, while Stokke spent time with the moms for a spa day.

At the end of the event, the kids surprised the moms with flowers, and Fowler made sure his wife was not left out. Fowler presented Stokke with her own custom bouquet as well.

The gesture came days before Mother’s Day. Stokke is a proud mom to the couple’s two kids, Maya and Nellie. During the event, Stokke spoke about the significance of her mother in her own life.

“I don’t think I would have made it where I made it had it not been for my mom and both my parents,” Stokke said in the video. “They just maintained this strength that was key to me feeling like I had the strength, too, to do everything I did.”

Fowler celebrated Mother’s Day by being in contention at the Truist Championship. It was a nod to Stokke as well as his own mother, Lynne Fowler.

The golfer has a habit of playing well on Mother’s Day. Fowler previously won The Players Championship in 2015 on the holiday.

“Very special to have all of them here,” Fowler said back in 2015, per ESPN. “Especially my mom for Mother’s Day. I know she’s pretty happy.”

Fowler has had quite the journey on the PGA Tour. The golfer was once one of the faces of the sport but then struggled to find his footing in recent years. Fowler credits his wife for helping him through the ups and downs.

“Going through this struggle for the last few years, and learning to open up and share more is not easy,” Fowler said on the Netflix docu-series “Full Swing,” per Yahoo Sports. “But for me, being able to get input or hear her side, it means something.”

Stokke also posted the video of the Mother’s Day event at the Truist Championship.

“Mother’s Day fun @rickiefowler 🤍,” Stokke said in the May 9, Instagram post.
