NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported the Green Bay Packers invited the brother of Josh Jacobs to the team's rookie minicamp.

Three-time Pro Bowl running back Josh Jacobs will be back with the Green Bay Packers for a third season this fall. But there will be another Jacobs in Green Bay this offseason.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Sunday the Packers invited Jacobs’s brother, Isaiah Jacobs to the team’s rookie minicamp.

“UAB RB Isaiah Jacobs, the brother of Packers star RB Josh Jacobs is attending Green Bay’s rookie minicamp as a tryout player,” wrote Rapoport on X. “A cool opportunity.”

Like his older brother, Isaiah plays running back. At UAB during the 2025 season, Isaiah registered 342 rushing yards with four touchdowns. He also had 15 receptions for 82 receiving yards and an additional score.

Packers Invite Isaiah Jacobs to Rookie Minicamp: Report

Isaiah bounced around during his college career. After beginning at Maryland, he spent a year at the Junior College level. He then returned to the FBS level at UAB the past three seasons.

From 2023-25, Isaiah had 753 rushing yards while averaging 4.3 yards per carry. He also had seven rushing touchdowns.

In the passing game, Isaiah registered 39 catches, 178 receiving yards and one touchdown.

While a rookie minicamp tryout is a significant deal for Isaiah, he is not yet a member of the Packers. He will have to impressed the team to earn a spot on the team’s 90-man offseason roster.

Green Bay has yet to announce when it will hold its rookie minicamp. On April 3, Packers.com’s Mike Spofford wrote that the rookie minicamp will either take place on the first or second weekend after the 2026 NFL Draft.

The league concluded this year’s draft on Saturday, April 25.

Packers Running Back Depth With Josh Jacobs RB1

Isaiah’s first step will be to earn a spot on the 90-man Green Bay roster. But if he successfully does that, he will then join a Packers running back room that includes five other backs.

Josh sits at the top of the running back depth chart in Green Bay. The other four running backs are Chris Brooks, MarShawn Lloyd, Pierre Strong Jr. and Damien Martinez.

The Packers lost backup running back Emanuel Wilson to NFL free agency this offseason. So the team does have an opening behind Josh.

Of the remaining group of backs in Green Bay, Brooks has the most experience. He ran for 106 yards on 27 carries last season.

The Packers didn’t add any running backs in the 2026 NFL Draft. However, the team only made six selections, making the 2026 class the smallest of general manager Brian Gutekunst’s tenure in Green Bay.

The only offensive player the Packers added in the 2026 NFL Draft was Kentucky interior offensive lineman Jager Burton.

The Packers could afford not addressing running back because Josh has proven to be very durable. He’s missed just two games over his two seasons with Green Bay.

Last season, Josh ran for 929 yards and 13 touchdowns. He scored 15 rushing touchdowns during 2024.

In addition to inviting Isaiah to the team’s rookie minicamp, the Packers also signed undrafted running back Jaden Nixon from UCF. Nixon could give Green Bay depth in the backfield and as a returner on special teams.

According to SB Nation’s Acme Packing Company’s Justis Mosqueda, Isaiah was one of seven prospects who received an invite to Green Bay’s rookie minicamp. Isaiah was the only running back, but ultimately, he will be competing with every unsigned rookie for a roster spot.
