The Milwaukee Brewers are off to an 18-15 start entering Monday’s slate of games. Unfortunately, because of the NL Central’s hot start to the season, this places the Brewers near the bottom of the division and 1.5 games out of the Wild Card.

However, the Brewers are 5-5 in their last 10 games.

Part of this stretch has been due to the reliance on complementary-level hitters for Milwaukee while their stars are out.

That has come to an end.

The Brewers’ social media team announced that first baseman Andrew Vaughn and outfielder Jackson Chourio have been reinstated from the injured list.

In corresponding moves, outfielder Blake Perkins has been optioned to Triple-A, and infielder/outfielder Greg Jones has been designated for assignment.

What Does This Mean for the Milwaukee Brewers?

Chourio and Vaughn were key pieces of this team going into the season. With outfielder Christian Yelich having played just 15 games this season, the team’s offense was on life support.

While the pitching for Milwaukee has been fantastic, giving up just 127 runs through 33 games, they have scored 172 runs.

While that may seem like a rather large number, and it is, runs have come in bunches for the Brewers, scoring 13 runs twice in their last 11 games.

Now, their two big run producers are back in the lineup.

Chourio has not played yet this season after suffering a fractured hand in spring training.

Through his first two seasons, he has amassed 42 home runs and 43 stolen bases, showing why he was a consensus top-3 prospect.

While just 22, Chourio has the potential to break out this season if he stays healthy.

As for Vaughn, a once-failed Chicago White Sox prospect, he was traded to Milwaukee in exchange for pitcher Aaron Civale at the last trade deadline.

In 64 games with the Brewers during 2025, Vaughn had a robust .308/.375/.493 slash line with nine home runs.

He played in just one game in 2026 before fracturing his hamate bone.

Most of the time, a hamate bone injury results in lessened power after the player returns. This would not be ideal for Vaughn, who relies on power.

The Brewers will have to hope that this isn’t the case with Vaughn and that he has made a full recovery.

Who Are the Corresponding Moves for the Team?

The Washington Nationals drafted Perkins in the second round of the 2015 MLB Draft from high school.

He would make his debut in 2023 with Milwaukee after bouncing around the minor leagues.

However, Perkins has been disappointing. In 261 games, Perkins has a .224/.307/.329 slash line. He will look to improve in Triple-A in hopes of getting the call soon again.

As for Jones, he is a former first-round pick in 2019. Once a top-100 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, he has disappointed as well.

In three seasons (20 games), between the Colorado Rockies, White Sox and Brewers, Jones has a .107/.138/.214 slash line.

In 11 games with Milwaukee in 2026, he went just 2-21 with no extra-base hits or walks.

Milwaukee will have five days to release, trade or place Jones on outright waivers.

This is the best-case scenario for the Brewers, who enter a series against the red-hot St. Louis Cardinals on Monday.
