Las Vegas Raiders general manager John Spytek says that he’s happy with the team’s wide receiver room, but the group does lack high-end talent. There’s a lot of potential with their current wide receivers, but not a lot of proven production.

The Raiders aren’t likely to find a true No. 1 wide receiver for the 2026 season unless they swing a blockbuster trade. That seems like a long shot for a rebuilding team. However, they could still swing a trade for a veteran who could help.

The Buffalo Bills traded for D.J. Moore this offseason, which puts Josh Palmer’s future in jeopardy. Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox believes that he could get traded and named the Raiders as one of his possible suitors.

“Since the start of the offseason, Buffalo has signed Trent Sherfield, traded for D.J. Moore, and drafted Skyler Bell. That alone might not be enough to justify pulling the plug on Palmer, but his contract plays a part,” Knox wrote. “Palmer is set to carry a cap hit of $11.8 million this season. The Bills can save $5.4 million by trading him now and $10.2 million by trading him after June 1.

“Brown and Aiyuk may both have to be dealt before Palmer draws considerable interest, but he’ll be a solid option for receiver-needy teams once the dust settles.”

Palmer Could Be Solid 3rd or 4th Option

Palmer isn’t a big name, but he is somebody some people in the Raiders building should be familiar with, as he spent his first four seasons with the rival Los Angeles Chargers. He’s had over 500 receiving yards in three seasons, so he can be a productive player.

He wouldn’t be a candidate to be the WR1. He’s more likely to be a third or fourth option. Perhaps he’d be the No. 2 option with the Raiders. If the price is low, Palmer wouldn’t be a bad player to trade for. He’s a solid veteran who can make plays at a somewhat consistent level.

WR Arguably Biggest Need for Raiders

The Raiders did a great job addressing a lot of needs this offseason, but weren’t able to hit all of them. It’s difficult for a team with so many needs being able to fill them all in one offseason.

Defensive tackle is another huge need in Las Vegas, but ESPN’s Aaron Schatz still thinks outside wide receiver is the biggest need for them.

“The Raiders have wide receivers, but no one is established as a No. 1 option,” Schatz wrote. “(Yes, their No. 1 receiver is tight end Brock Bowers, but it is still good to have somebody drawing attention outside.) Tre Tucker is going into his fourth season and had 57 catches for 696 yards and five touchdowns last season, but he also had a score of just 29 out of 100 in the ESPN receiver scores. Jack Bech (20 catches for 224 yards) and Dont’e Thornton Jr. (10 catches for 135 yards) underwhelmed in their rookie seasons. Dareke Young had just four receptions in four seasons with Seattle before signing with Las Vegas this offseason, and rookie Malik Benson is a sixth-round pick.”

There are some good veteran outside wide receivers in free agency that the Raiders could take a look at if they decide against making a trade.
