Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff is nearing a special event in April, and he's celebrating the news online.

The unquestioned leader of the Detroit Lions is quarterback Jared Goff, who they acquired from the Los Angeles Rams in the January 2021 blockbuster trade that sent Matthew Stafford, their former first overall pick in the 2009 NFL Draft, to Hollywood in return.

Since Goff’s arrival in the Motor City, the Lions have achieved heights that generations of fans had never witnessed, including being just 30 minutes away from their first ever Super Bowl appearance, followed by a 15-2 campaign; in both seasons, the Lions were the top team in the competitive NFC North Division.

The Lions also rewarded Goff’s accomplishments with a four-year, $212 million extension (which has seen been restructured) that included $170 million in guaranteed money.

His leadership skills have proven to be invaluable for the franchise, especially as evidenced by recent commentary from cornerback Terrion Arnold.

Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold Reveals Jared Goff’s Leadership Qualities

While appearing on the NFL Spotlight podcast with Ari Meirov, Arnold praised the leadership qualities displayed by Jared Goff, noting that he never feels hesitant to ask him questions. Arnold also said the veteran quarterback consistently provides constructive criticism that helps improve his performance and overall confidence.

“If they beat me on something, he’ll (Goff) come back and tell me why he did it. Or what he’s reading or what he’s looking at, so that right there was everything to me. It just helped me become a better player and transition to the player that I want to become,” Arnold said on the NFL Spotlight podcast with Ari Meirov.

“A guy like that, with veteran experience, a guy knows how to win — I would say he’s one of those guys you can feel comfortable asking any question. I like to ask him what he sees when I’m in a certain coverage, what he sees when I’m in this type of look. At the end of the day, if I know what he sees, it’s going to make me that much better.”

Lions Coach Dan Campbell Loves Jared Goff’s Impact On The Lions

During an interview on 97.1 The Ticket in December, Lions head coach Dan Campbell made it clear that Goff had absolutely no chance of being moved.

“Jared Goff is a stud,” Campbell said. “He’s an absolute stud. We’re fortunate to have him as a quarterback. He’s a winning quarterback in this league. He played at a very high level all season long. He played even better than he played the year before, and he’s continued to play better.

“We’re thankful to have him. I’m thankful to have him. He’s an absolute stud. He’s a pro. He’s going nowhere,” Campbell said.

While there were times during the season that Goff didn’t perform at his best, he still ultimately finished second overall in the NFL with 4,564 passing yards. He also threw 34 touchdowns with eight interceptions for a 68 percent completion percentage.

Goff and the Lions will be hoping to prove that their 9-8 finish, which saw them finish outside of the NFL postseason, was an anomaly heading into the upcoming 2026 campaign.
