The Arizona Cardinals got some bad news, that they are the favorites to be the team with the fewest wins in the NFL for the 2026 season.
The Arizona Cardinals already have a crowded quarterback room.
Led currently by Jacoby Brissett, Gardner Minshew, Carson Beck and Kedon Slovis, there doesn’t seem to be much room for another addition.
However, recent speculation and rumors have placed four-time MVP Aaron Rodgers in Arizona.
Cardinals free-agent addition Kendrick Bourne added fuel to the fire by saying, “Come on we waiting for you” to Rodgers in a recent tweet.
Just hours after this tweet, Cardinals first-year head coach Mike LaFleur appeared on “The Jim Rome Show”.
He appeared to pour cold water over the speculation.
LaFleur seemed to reflect the crowdedness of the Cardinals quarterback room in his statement on the show.
“Honestly, right now, we’re focused on the guys that we’ve got coming in,” LaFleur said. “We’ve got the unit that we have — Gardner, Jacoby and Slovis — and then we drafted Carson Beck in the third round. We’ve got a room we are excited to work with, and that’s solely where my focus is.”
While that can be perceived as a total non-answer by LaFleur, it’s a true statement.

This has led to trade rumors coming up. After Brissett, it doesn’t get a whole lot more inspiring.
Minshew has been a journeyman with not much success since his Jacksonville days.
Slovis has yet to start a game at the NFL level, throwing just two passes in 2025.
As for Beck, he’s a rookie who many consider not to be NFL-ready quite yet.
Despite Rodgers potentially being a better option than any of those guys, there’s just no room for him.
While Rodgers is a future Hall-of-Fame player, he is entering the twilight of his career. Coming off one of the worst statistical seasons of his magnificent career, Rodgers, technically, remains a free agent.
While the Pittsburgh Steelers placed a rare unrestricted free agent tender on Rodgers, this doesn’t mean the age-43 quarterback will come back.
But why is there speculation for Rodgers to come to one of the worst teams in the NFL?
First off, there is familiarity with the coaching staff.
LaFleur’s brother Matt coached Rodgers for four seasons with the Green Bay Packers, and likely carries a similar offense to Mike.
This means Rodgers would likely not have to learn a new offense at this stage of his career.
New offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett also has familiarity with Rodgers, having been in Green Bay for two of his MVP seasons.
With weapons Michael Wilson, Marvin Harrison Jr., Trey McBride and Jeremiyah Love, the Cardinals could have a dangerous offense with the right quarterback.
But is Rodgers the right quarterback?
Factoring in the firepower of the Arizona offense and his familiarity with the staff, Rodgers could be very intrigued by the prospects of going to the Cardinals.
But will he? That remains to be seen.
