Nuggets Make Major Aaron Gordon Announcement Ahead of Do-or-Die Game 6

Aaron Gordon reacts during Nuggets playoff game as calf injury clouds Game 6 status vs Timberwolves

Aaron Gordon’s calf injury has left his Game 6 status in doubt as the Nuggets face a must-win matchup against the Timberwolves.

The Denver Nuggets have officially listed Aaron Gordon as questionable for Game 6 against the Minnesota Timberwolves, as the team faces a must-win scenario to keep its season alive.

Gordon continues to deal with left calf tightness that has lingered throughout the first-round series, impacting both his availability and performance. The veteran forward has appeared in just three of the first five games.

Aaron Gordon Injury Clouds Nuggets’ Game 6 Outlook

Gordon sat out Denver’s 125-113 Game 5 victory, a performance that extended the series to 3-2 in favor of Minnesota. While the Nuggets survived without him, the team is preparing for the possibility that he may not return just yet.

ESPN insider Shams Charania reported earlier that Denver is bracing for Gordon to miss another game.

“It’s a pretty bad calf strain that Aaron Gordon is dealing with,” Charania said on Get Up. “The Nuggets sat him out of Game 5. I’m told they are preparing to be without him for Game 6… a lot of it is protecting him from himself.”

Head coach David Adelman echoed the uncertainty after Game 5, though he left the door open for a possible return.

“I hate to be boring about the answer with this. I have no idea, it’s frustrating, obviously, but I think we have to prepare like they’re not going to, but then, if the updates get positive, then you can change your routine, so to speak, of how you prepare,” Adelman said, citing Gordon’s versatility as a point forward in a series which they need ball handling.

Denver’s injury concerns extend beyond Gordon.

Forward Peyton Watson remains out with a hamstring strain, further thinning the Nuggets’ rotation as they attempt to extend the series. Watson had been expected to play a complementary role off the bench before his injury.

The combined absences have forced Denver to rely more heavily on depth players, including Spencer Jones, who delivered a breakout performance with 20 points in Game 5.

Gordon’s Impact Missed on Both Ends

Even when active, Gordon has been limited by the calf issue. He is averaging 11.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists in the series — a step back from his production during last year’s playoffs.

His mobility has been visibly affected, particularly in his perimeter shooting. Gordon is shooting just 21.4% from three-point range in this series, down sharply from the 37.9% he posted during the 2025 postseason.

Still, his importance to Denver extends beyond scoring. Gordon is one of the team’s most versatile defenders and a key physical presence alongside Nikola Jokic in both halfcourt sets and transition play.

Nuggets Look to Extend Season

Denver regained momentum in Game 5 behind a dominant performance from Jokic, who recorded a triple-double, along with strong contributions from Jamal Murray.

“It’s just a good win and then you move on,” Adelman said. “Tomorrow we’ll sit down, get ready, and try to win on Thursday.”

The Nuggets now head to Minnesota needing another victory to force a decisive Game 7. They are no strangers to the challenge — Denver famously erased two 3-1 deficits during the 2020 playoffs.

Gordon Status Key to Series Outcome

Gordon’s availability could prove pivotal.

Even at less than full strength, his presence would provide defensive versatility and rebounding that are difficult to replace. Without him, Denver must once again lean on its depth and maintain near-perfect execution.

For now, the Nuggets remain in wait-and-see mode.

And as Game 6 approaches, Gordon’s injury status stands as one of the defining variables — one that could ultimately determine whether Denver’s season continues or comes to an end.
