The Yankees’ lineup was posted just before first pitch tonight in the second game of this series against the Milwaukee Brewers at American Family Field in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 PM E.T., and Yankees top OF prospect, Spencer Jones, will make his first big league start in center field.

Jones appeared in his first big league game last night for the Yankees, batting 6th, but was the team’s DH in that game against Brewers ace starting pitcher, Jacob Mizirowski. Jones went 0-2 last night with two strikeouts and a walk. Jones is right back in the lineup tonight, hoping for a better outcome in the second game of this series. Aside from his power-hitting profile, Jones is regarded as an excellent defensive center fielder, where he played extremely well in the minor leagues, most recently for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Jones Is A Good Defensive Center Fielder

Despite his big size, Jones has solid routes to fly balls, utilizing his above-average speed. He can play any of the three outfield positions (left, right, or center), which will give much-needed rest days or DH at-bats to some of the Yankees’ veteran outfielders, such as Trent Grisham, Cody Bellinger, and Aaron Judge. Trent Grisham, the Yankees regular everyday center fielder, will have the night off after playing in 38 of the Yankees first 39 games.

Brewers Left Hander Kyle Harrison Has Been Really Good

What’s also interesting to note is that Jones will see a southpaw tonight in Brewers left-handed pitcher Kyle Harrison, who they acquired from the Boston Red Sox this past offseason for infielder Caleb Durbin in a 6 player trade. Harrison, who’s 24 years old, is a former top prospect in the San Francisco Giants system back in 2024. He’s gotten off to a great start for the Brewers in 2026 with a 3-1 record, 2.12 ERA, and 35 strikeouts in 29.2 innings pitched. Harrison has reverse splits against lefties, posting a 4.43 ERA in his career up to this point (6.1 IP) versus opposing left-handed batters.

Spencer Jones, on the other hand, has traditionally struggled against left-handed pitchers while coming up in the Yankees system. Jones posted a .189 batting average with a 43% strikeout rate against lefties last year in the minor leagues, according to MLB.com’s scouting profile. Jones will have to continue to work on his strikeout rates and overall swing and miss at the big league level, as tonight will be another challenging task against a good Brewers pitcher. Jones will bat eighth in the Yankees’ order and look to make an impact with the bat and in the field.

Cam Schlittler Will Take The Mound Tonight As The Yankees Look To Bounce Back

The Yankees will send right-handed phenom Cam Schlittler to the mound, who’s looking to build off a modest outing last time against Baltimore in which he pitched 5.1 innings, allowed seven hits, but only surrendered one earned run and struck out four batters. This Yankees lineup will be looking to bounce back after a brutal shutout loss (6-0) last night, when the Yankees struck out 11 times against Brewers starting pitcher Jacob Misiorowski, who was throwing 104 mph with 97 mph sliders and mid-80s curveballs.

Luckily for the Yankees lineup tonight, they will not have to face Misiorowski for the rest of the season unless these two teams end up in the World Series, and the Yankees offense can rewrite the script as they look to even up this series with a relatively good Milwaukee Brewers ball club.
