The New York Yankees are off to an incredible start to the 2026 season.
On Saturday, they beat the Baltimore Orioles (at home) by a score of 9-4.
They currently have a 2-0 lead in the series with the third game on Sunday afternoon.

With how well they’re currently playing, there is no immediate need to the roster right now.
That said, any team trying to win a World Series is always looking to make deals to bolster the roster.
In a recent interview with Brandon Tierney of Unleashed, YES Network star Michael Kay spoke about the one position the Yankees could look to improve.
Kay: “I think if they make a big deal Brandon, it’s gonna be for a closer.”
While Kay was just sharing an opinion, his expertise on the Yankees carries a lot of weight.
The trade deadline is still a ways off, but adding a star closer (or additional relief help) would make sense.

Right now, David Bednar is the team’s closer.
He is in his second season playing for the team.
Last year (in 64 games for the Pirates and Yankees), Bednar went 6-5 with a 2.30 ERA and 27 saves.

While the 31-year-old has been very good, there is never enough elite pitchers a contender can have in their bullpen.
