Alperen Sengun reacts during the Rockets’ Game 3 loss as an NBA review later revealed missed calls in the final moments.

For the second season in a row, the Houston Rockets have been eliminated earlier than expected. Alperen Sengun’s franchise is going to hit the offseason with plenty of questions.

Last year, the Rockets wrapped up a disappointing playoff run with a blockbuster trade on their mind. That’s when they went and acquired Kevin Durant from the Phoenix Suns.

This season, most expected the Rockets to take advantage of a Luka Doncic-less Lakers team, which also missed Austin Reaves for a few games. For a moment, the Rockets were on the verge of getting swept, down 0-3 heading into Game 4.

While Houston picked up two wins in the series, they still lost it all. Now, they head into the summer with some important decisions to make, and Sengun recently responded to the idea that perhaps his future with the Rockets could be in question as well.

Aleperen Sengun Addresses His Future

“I cannot do anything about those conversations,” Sengun told reporters on Friday night.

“It just is what it is. You stay with it, and you know, it’s the front office’s job to do it, so I cannot do anything about it. Wherever I go, or whatever I’m staying over here, if I stay here, I’m just gonna stay with it. I’m gonna do what I’m doing. Same goes, same everything.”

The Rockets have plenty invested in the star center. Next season, Sengun will go into year two of his five-year deal, which is worth $185.00 million.

From an individual standpoint, Sengun had another strong run in 2025-2026. He was an All-Star for the second season in a row. In 72 games, Sengun produced averages of 20.4 points, 8.9 rebounds, and 6.2 assists per game.

Sengun Speaks On Another Short-Lived Run

The playoff run was a disappointment across the board. Following Game 6, Sengun explained his perspective after the series loss.

“Last season, we were really close. This season, Game 3 obviously hurt. Still trying to fight. Last season, we stayed with it too. We’re just learning, man,” Sengun said.

“A lot of legendary players didn’t go all the way through their first two playoff experiences, you know? We didn’t do it either. But we are good. We’re a good team. We have a lot of talent on this team. We are fighters, at the end of the day. We all stay together and just learn. Learn to take care of your body and mentally, everything. We’re going to learn from this a lot of things. There’s summer to get better.”

Sengun doesn’t seem to operating with the idea that he could potentially be on the move. Clearly, the Rockets have a lot to assess, but a Sengun deal doesn’t have any legs at this time.
