There was no pre-race announcement. No major buildup. Just a familiar face stepping onto pit road at Talladega — and suddenly, one of the weekend’s most unexpected crossover moments was underway.

Jason Kelce, the Super Bowl champion and former Philadelphia Eagles star, made a surprise appearance with Hendrick Motorsports on Saturday, taking on a one-off role as part of the pit crew for rising driver Corey Day.

An Unexpected Guest on Pit Road

Kelce’s presence at Talladega wasn’t just a casual visit.

Dressed in full Hendrick Motorsports gear, he stepped directly into the action, working as a sign holder on pit road — a role that requires precision, timing, and communication during one of the most high-pressure elements of a race.

For a former NFL lineman known for his toughness and energy, it was a natural fit, even if it came in a completely different sport.


Kelce’s Pit Crew Cameo Pays Off

By the end of the day, the moment had a storybook finish.

Corey Day delivered a standout performance, securing his first O’Reilly Series win at Talladega after a dramatic, three-wide battle to the line.

While Kelce wasn’t behind the wheel — and certainly not responsible for the result — his presence became part of the narrative, adding a layer of crossover appeal to an already chaotic and memorable race.

A Super Bowl Champion Brings Star Power to Pit Road

Before his crossover into NASCAR, Kelce built one of the most accomplished careers at his position in NFL history.

The longtime Philadelphia Eagles center spent 13 seasons anchoring the offensive line and played a key role in the franchise’s Super Bowl LII victory. Known for his toughness, intelligence, and leadership, Kelce became one of the defining players of his era before announcing his retirement in 2024.
