Angel Reese is now a player for the Atlanta Dream.

The Atlanta Dream are set to play their first WNBA preseason game on Wednesday against the Chicago Sky. It’s an early reunion between Angel Reese and the Sky, less than a month after parting ways via trade.

After two seasons in Chicago, Reese was sent to Atlanta on April 6 in exchange for two first-round picks in 2027 and 2028.

The relationship between the player and the franchise became tumultuous after Reese made some critical remarks against the Sky in an interview with Julia Poe of The Chicago Tribune back in September.

Wednesday’s preseason game at Wintrust Arena isn’t just going to be Angel Reese’s debut with the Dream. It will also be her first game against the Sky since the trade.

Speaking to CBS News’ Christopher Harris after Tuesday’s practice, Reese opened up about her return to Chicago. She had nothing bad to say about her former team and is excited to see some familiar faces.

“Just another exciting opportunity for me to be in Chicago,” Reese said. “I loved my experience there. It was amazing, and seeing a lot of familiar faces on Wednesday is going to be good.”

The two-time All-Star added that she’s not looking to get any kind of revenge. She just wants to play with her new teammates, and it just happened to be against her former team.

In her two seasons with the Sky, Reese averaged 14.1 points, 12.9 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.4 steals in 64 games.

Difference Between Atlanta Dream and Chicago Sky

In an interview with ESPN’s Kendra Andrews, Angel Reese couldn’t help but rave about his new team. Reese has already embraced her role as one of the top players for the Dream, forming a bond with her teammates, coaches and even the front office.

She also couldn’t help but take a subtle shot at the Sky.

“Coaches and GMs who really believed in me were something that I was really, really wanting after my first two years,” Reese said. “I felt like (the Dream) loved each other; I could feel the sisterhood on the court and off the court. I think there’s no ceiling to what we can do.”

The Dream finished third in the WNBA standings last season, but they lost in the first round against the Indiana Fever. They brought back every key player from last year and added Reese, who is arguably the best rebounder in the league.

Reese forms an elite group with Allisha Gray, Rhyne Howard, Naz Hillmon, Jordin Canada and Brionna Jones, while coach Karl Smesko is at the helm.

And with Jones possibly out to start the season, Reese is set for a bigger role in her debut campaign for the Dream. She’ll likely be joined in the starting frontcourt by Howard and Hillmon, as per Sports Illustrated’s Elaine Blum.
