Neal Shipley’s Newest Partnership Takes Flight On and Off the Course

Neal Shipley walks across the 10th tee prior to the Zurich Classic of New Orleans 2026 at TPC Louisiana on April 22, 2026 in Avondale, Louisiana.

Neal Shipley entered 2026 with momentum few rookies on the PGA Tour could match. After a breakout 2025 season on the Korn Ferry Tour, the former low amateur at both the Masters Tournament and the U.S. Open officially arrived on golf’s biggest stage carrying high expectations and growing fan attention.

The transition, however, has proven difficult for the former Ohio State golfer.

Throughout the opening stretch of his rookie PGA Tour season, Shipley struggled to find consistency. He missed the cut in seven of his first eight tournaments, including four consecutive missed cuts in the spring. His best finish came at the WM Phoenix Open, where he finished T68. The results have likely been disappointing for a player who dominated the Korn Ferry Tour just months earlier. However, Shipley has remained focused on long-term results, choosing not to get caught up in short-term frustration.

Ahead of the season, the 6-foot-4 golfer relocated to Palm Beach to better prepare for the demands of professional golf. He hired a new trainer and changed his diet in an effort to improve his health over long tournament weeks. The adjustments reflect a player still adapting to the physical and mental grind of a full PGA Tour schedule.

Despite the slow start competitively, Shipley’s popularity among fans continues to rise.

Neal Shipley’s Newest Partnership Takes Flight

Shipley’s growing recognition has translated into sponsorship opportunities for the 25-year-old. This spring, Shipley signed a multiyear ambassador agreement with American Airlines and its Citi® / AAdvantage® Mastercard® portfolio. The partnership sees Shipley as a featured face for the companies’ travel and golf-focused promotional campaigns. Together, they will highlight premium travel experiences and behind-the-scenes access to life on Tour.

In a statement announcing the partnership, Shipley said the airline’s travel accommodations help him stay prepared throughout the Tour’s schedule. Meanwhile, American Airlines executives pointed to Shipley’s performance potential alongside his growing connection to fans.

Shipley’s rise began in 2024. He captured national attention by earning low amateur honors at both the Masters and U.S. Open before turning professional. He followed that breakthrough with a strong 2025 Korn Ferry Tour season. One that included victories at the LECOM Suncoast Classic and The Ascendant. His performance secured his PGA Tour card as he finished inside the Top 20 on the season points list.

Now in his rookie year, Neal Shipley faces the same challenges as many young professionals. Including translating promise into consistency against the world’s best. While the results have not yet matched the hype, Shipley remains one of the PGA Tour’s most interesting young players. Despite still searching for his footing, he is clearly not lacking confidence in where his career can go next.

Official Press Release

Neal Shipley’s star power continues to rise to new heights as the charismatic golfer takes off as an ambassador for American Airlines and its Citi® / AAdvantage® Mastercard® portfolio. A former quantitative finance student, Shipley has long blended precision and performance — making him a natural fit for American’s focus on unlocking memorable travel experiences for customers, including exclusive opportunities that bring fans closer to their favorite greens through clear blue skies.

The global golf tourism market is growing more than 9% each year, with many golfers seeking out the premium travel experiences offered by American — from its luxurious Flagship Suite® seats with privacy doors to the airline’s expansive network of premium lounges.

“Whether I’m enjoying a coffee before an early tee time or catching up on sleep in a spacious lie-flat seat, I always fly with American knowing that I’ll arrive at my destination ready to win,” said Shipley, whose 6-foot-4-inch frame and flowing mane has made him one of the most recognizable golfers on the course and across social media.

Following a historic run where he finished as the leading nonprofessional at two of the world’s most prestigious major championships, Shipley has seamlessly transitioned into the professional ranks, and he counts American as one of his first major brand partners. As part of the agreement, American and its Citi® / AAdvantage® Mastercard® portfolio will have a visible presence throughout Shipley’s competitive season, including category exclusivity as his commercial airline partner.

“Neal is the real deal — on and off the course,” said American’s Vice President of Co-brand and Partners Chad Schweinzger. “What stood out to us wasn’t just how he plays, but how he shows up. He brings fans along in a way that feels genuine, and that kind of authentic storytelling is powerful. It’s a natural fit as we support Neal on the road and share the American story through the game of golf.”

Shipley will help American highlight coveted golf destinations and fan moments through a series of original digital stories and experiences as part of a multiyear agreement. From travel days to tournament moments, Shipley will offer fans a behind-the-scenes look at life on tour — highlighting how American helps power his journey between the fairway and the runway. A Citi® / AAdvantage® Executive World Elite Mastercard® cardmember himself, he will also showcase the benefits of the Citi® / AAdvantage® Executive World Elite Mastercard®, including Admirals Club® membership and the ability to earn AAdvantage® miles and Loyalty Points toward status.
