Dana White Appears in Brock Lesnar's WWE Retirement Package

Dana White praised Brock Lesnar in his WWE retirement package for his incredible accomplishments. Lesnar had an undeniable impact when he transitioned to MMA and joined the UFC. His popularity carried over and led to his fights consistently generating a million pay-per-view buys.

Lesnar, 48, left his boots and gloves in the ring after his match at WrestleMania 42. The former UFC heavyweight champion lost to Oba Femi in the opening match of the second night. Many considered the match, along with Lesnar’s post-match retirement, to be a passing-of-the-torch moment.

On last Monday’s episode of WWE RAW, a video package that highlighted Lesnar’s career. The package included his UFC run and featured White. The UFC CEO praised ‘The Beast’ for his quick rise to the top and becoming heavyweight champion.

“[Lesnar] comes over from the WWE and actually becomes the heavyweight champion of the world,” White said. “It’s impossible to do.”

While his UFC career was short, Lesnar played a key role in introducing more pro wrestling fans to MMA.

MMA Insider Ariel Helwani Praises Brock Lesnar’s WWE Retirement

MMA journalist Ariel Helwani recently shared his thoughts on Brock Lesnar’s WWE retirement and how it was handled. He praised the match between Lesnar and Oba Femi, as well as the buildup as a whole.

On an episode of The Ariel Helwani Show, the Canadian journalist said it was much better than John Cena’s retirement.

“I thought [WWE] nailed the Brock Lesnar retirement. There was no big pomp and circumstance leading up to it. [Femi] wins, he looks like a superstar. Brock’s emotional, that seemed legit, takes off the gloves, takes off the shoes,” Helwani said.

Helwani also compared Lesnar’s retirement to Gilbert Burns, who retired after his loss to Mike Mallott at UFC Winnipeg. He noted that the former heavyweight champion had a moment where he came to terms with retirement, similar to Burns.

“This felt impromptu, emotional. It felt like a fight, it felt like Gilbert Burns, like, ‘I’ve realized I’m not good enough, I’m old, I wanna do this and that, I’m done.’ I thought that was great and Oba Femi is the man.”

Lesnar Opens Up About His Career and Joining Dana White’s UFC

Lesnar recently reflected on his career and what he has accomplished. He exceled in collegiate wrestling, pro wrestling, and later MMA, and even had a brief NFL stint.

Lesnar, who rarely does interviews, spoke candidly about life in sports and admitted that he always wanted to challenge himself. He outlined his path and offered a glimpse into his mentality when transitioning into different sports.

“I still felt like I had some athletic endeavors inside, so that’s why I [originally] stepped away [from WWE] and tried my hand in the NFL [with the Minnesota Vikings],” Lesnar told Spittin’ Chiclets. “Dude, I feel like I’ve lived the lives of two or three men. It’s crazy.”

He added:

“I think I just had this mindset in my head like, ‘I can do that. Why can’t you?’ And I think everybody should have that mindset. I think a lot of people get deterred away from things in a hurry and I was always a very confident person.”
