Steve Kerr addresses future with Golden State Warriors

The Golden State Warriors aren’t closing the window on the Steph Curry era.

Every move for the 2026-2027 NBA season will be made with the former MVP in mind. And now that the Warriors have settled their Steve Kerr question, the Warriors have checked their biggest boxes of the offseason so far.

Next, the Warriors are focused on the 2026 NBA Draft. Soon, Golden State will learn its place in the first round. In a recent mock draft from Bleacher Report, the Warriors snagged No. 11. The projected pick comes from Arizona in Brayden Burries.

The Warriors Could Take On The Arizona Sharpshooter

“If these projections hold during the actual talent grab, the Warriors might set the record for the quickest pick submission in draft history,” Zach Buckley of BR writes.

Referred to as a “dream pick” Burries would enter the Warriors’ organization after spending just one season at Arizona. Hailing from California, the 20-year-old was a five-star recruit by most major recruiting platforms. After a successful freshman season, Burries is ready to be one-and-done.

“Overloaded with win-now qualities to support Stephen Curry and the veteran core right now, quietly brimming with long-term potential to help with (or even lead) the next chapter,” Buckley added.

“His game is all substance over style. He finds scoring chances within the offensive flow, consistently plays with maximum effort and already shows the kind of physicality he’ll need to hang at this level. He could step into an off-ball role immediately and potentially step into a primary role down the line if his handle and creativity keep improving.”

Burries saw the court for 39 games this past NCAA season. He started every game, and averaged 29.8 minutes per game.

During that time, Burries shot 49.1% from the field, and drained 39.1% of his threes. Burries produced 16.1 points per game. Beyond his scoring, the Arizona standout averaged 4.9 rebounds, 2.4 assists, and 1.5 steals per game.

Are The Warriors Running It Back?

Steph Curry and Draymond Green

Golden State doesn’t seem to be headed towards any major breakups. While Draymond Green’s future is up in the air, the star forward has made it clear he would like to return.

Now that Steve Kerr is locked in for another two seasons, he could influence the return of the multi-time champion. Steph Curry could endorse that move as well.

Golden State’s moves for the 2026-2027 season will resemble decisions of a championship contender. Typically, that means it would be difficult for a rookie to crack the rotation. However, a lottery pick has a better chance of getting a day one role off the bench.

If the Warriors see Burries in the same light as BR’s recent mock draft, the Arizona guard could soon learn under Curry for his rookie effort.
