The Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys pulled off a blockbuster trade a year ago that featured Micah Parsons. In return, the Packers sent back two first-round picks and star defensive tackle Kenny Clark.

Jerry Jones has done a lot since that trade was made. He has turned the Parsons trade into a lot of pieces.

With that being said, Stephen Jones made some comments recently about the Parsons deal. He suggested that he feels the Cowboys won the trade.

“We feel really good about it. Obviously, much respect for Micah and what he stands for and how he plays and the caliber of player he is. At the same time, we feel good about what we’ve added via that trade,” Jones said.

“You look at a guy like Quinnen Williams and Kenny Clark. They’re alpha players, who are not only great players on the field, but they’re leaders in the meeting rooms, how about they go about their business in the offseason. Just bring great leadership to this team.”

Those comments will simply light more of a fire under Parsons.

Micah Parsons Has Even More to Prove with the Packers

Granted, there was no part of the comment that came across like a shot at Parsons. However, the superstar pass rusher will be looking to make Dallas regret its decision.

The way things ended between Parsons and the Cowboys wasn’t pretty. There have been plenty of words back and forth since the trade.

Jones may like what the trade looks like right now. However, Parsons can make that deal look a bit worse if he can come back, play his best football, and lead Green Bay to a Super Bowl win.

Needless to say, that is going to be his goal coming off of the torn ACL late last season.

What Is Micah Parsons’ Current Injury Status?

At least for now, the idea of Parsons playing in Week 1 seems like a long shot. That could change, but the Packers will likely need to play without him for a bit.

There is a wide expectation that he will return at some point around Week 3 or Week 4.

During his first season in Green Bay, Parsons lived up to the hype. He played in 14 games and recorded 41 total tackles to go along with 12.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, and a defended pass. At the end of the year, he was a legitimate contender for Defensive Player of the Year.

Heading into his second season, Parsons will likely start off with a short season. It will be interesting to see how he comes back and if the comments from Jones and everyone doubting his ability to return to full strength motivate him to do even bigger things in year two for the Packers.
