Ahead of Monday’s game, Aaron Judge revealed that he called Volpe.

Judge (via SNY’s Yankees Videos): “I gave him a call once I got home. Before I was eating dinner, just to kind of check on him, see what they say, how you feeling, what’s going on, how’s the shoulder feeling… We talked for 30-40 minutes and then I told him I’d check in with him later this week.”

He won a Gold Glove Award as a rookie in 2023 (and helped the Yankees reach the World Series in 2024).

Brendan Kuty of The Athletic wrote: “George Lombard Jr. is going to bounce around in the infield at Triple A, Boone says. Volpe will play SS, but didn’t rule out the possibility of him getting work at other positions. Said that “conversations” could happen in coming days.”
