Kyler Murray could emerge from the offseason with another new weapon in Terrill Davis.

The Minnesota Vikings completed their corresponding roster moves, bringing in Terrill Davis after news of their decision to cut ties with Jordan Botelho emerged.

Like Botelho was, Davis is trying to secure a spot on the 53-player roster, while playing a position at which the Vikings already have a lot of talent. He has already had a circuitous route to the NFL, though.

That perseverance could serve him well in the weeks and months to come.

Vikings Sign Former Oklahoma State WR Terrill Davis

The Vikings announced with a post on X on May 14 that, in addition to moving on from Botelho, they “signed Terill Davis.”

Davis spent three seasons at the University of Central Oklahoma, racking up 167 receptions, 2,347 yards, and 19 touchdowns for the Broncos, before transferring to Oklahoma State for his final collegiate season.

Davis posted a 29-373-0 line in 12 games with the Cowboys in Stillwater.

He joins a Vikings wide receiver room that is led by All-Everything star Justin Jefferson and fellow former first-round pick Jordan Addison.

The Vikings also signed veteran Jauan Jennings in free agency, adding him to a group that also includes 2025 third-round draft pick Tai Felton and former undrafted free agents like Jeshaun Jones, Joaquin Davis, and Myles Price. It is a deep group for presumed QB1 Kyler Murray.

Minnesota ranked third overall and seventh in scoring offense during the 2025 regular season.

Time will tell if Davis sticks on the Vikings’ roster, but he certainly has an uphill battle to make it to training camp, let alone through the preseason and into the regular campaign.

With minicamp in the rearview, Davis’ next significant opportunity to impress Kevin O’Connell and the rest of the Minnesota Vikings coaching staff will come in OTAs later this month. From there, it is on to mandatory minicamp, training camp, and then the season.

Terrill Davis Must Continue Proving Himself

Davis’ tenure with the Vikings ending is just the latest twist for a player who was productive during his collegiate career.

“In his final season for Central Oklahoma, he led all NCAA players regardless of division with 1,609 receiving yards en route to earning Division II All-America honors from the AFCA, The Associated Press and other outlets,” Vikings.com’s Lindsey Young wrote on May 14.

“Davis didn’t start playing football until his senior year at Choctaw High School (Oklahoma), when he opted to give it a try because basketball gymnasiums were closed during the COVID-19 pandemic. In his first season of football, he helped lead his team to the Class 6A State Championship and was named the 2020 District 6A-II-2 Offensive Player of the Year.”

Davis felt he showed well during the Cowboys’ pro day before the draft.

“I feel like I came out here and proved myself, for sure,” Davis said, per The Oklahoman’s Scott Wright following the showcase in March. “I just wanted to get in front of the scouts and show them I can catch the ball.”

Per Wright, Davis caught “every pass” thrown to him and “impressed with his leaping ability, posting a 39-inch vertical leap and a 10-foot, 4-inch broad jump.”

Davis also participated in the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers’ rookie minicamps.
