Following another lopsided loss, the Phoenix Suns had a lot to be frustrated about after Game 2 against Shai Gilgeous-Alecander and the Oklahoma City Thunder.

There’s been a common issue throughout the NBA when teams are playing against the Thunder, as many feel the game isn’t called evenly. OKC has a knack for getting to the line.

But players like Dillon Brooks and Devin Booker felt that the Game 2 officiating was out of line. After the game, Brooks encouraged reporters to go get answers from the referees, rather than asking the players about foul calls and on-court incidents.

“To be honest, ya’ll should be interviewing the officials,” Brooks said.

“That should be a new thing in the NBA. Officials got to explain themselves because it’s getting ridiculous. As you can see it starts to get fiery, and there’s no control out there, and they’re just whistling on one side.”

While brief interviews are conducted via pool reporters after games for certain moments, it’s rare for NBA officials to field questions regarding their calls for the night. Obviously, Brooks wants to see change there.

Gilgeous-Alexander is one of the most talented players in the game. One of his top qualities is finding ways to get to the free-throw line, which is a useful strategy for NBA stars in today’s game.

Players have to deal with it, but they certainly don’t have to respect it. Brooks is one who isn’t a fan of Gilgeous-Alexander’s ways.

“He’s a little frail, and that’s what the refs are going to call,” Brooks told reporters.

“Just got to be smart about it. This is the playoffs, a man’s game. I used to watch this back when Michael Jordan was playing. When LeBron was younger, just physical basketball. I don’t get why all the dropping, the falling, and the flopping and flailing, and all this stuff is allowed when we get to the playoffs.”

Brooks’ public message won’t change much. At the end of the day, it will be up to Brooks and the Suns to figure out a way to limit sending guys to the line when Game 3 takes place in Arizona.

The Thunder and the Suns will tip off again on Saturday, April 25.
