The Atlanta Braves will be without Spencer Strider to begin the season.
The Atlanta Braves, who are MLB’s hottest (and best) team right now, will be adding some pitching reinforcements with Spencer Strider set to return soon.
As the Braves were in the process of defeating the Philadelphia Phillies to take the weekend series, Spencer Strider made another rehab start with Triple-A Gwinnett, and it was another really good one. He looks and appears ready to rejoin the Braves’ starting rotation, which will push a current Atlanta starter out of the fold.

On Sunday, Spencer Strider turned in another stellar start down on the Atlanta Braves’ farm.
He pitched five innings, struck out seven batters, and gave up just one run. He threw 82 pitches (50 strikes).
Also, Walt Weiss will likely be asked very soon when Strider’s season debut will be, and he should have an answer.

The Braves have a pretty full rotation, so expect roster moves to be made this week to accommodate Strider and Sean Murphy’s potential return.
The Atlanta Braves, as mentioned, are rolling right now. They don’t exactly need to rush back Spencer Strider by any means.
Atlanta’s pitching staff has been one of the more surprising things in MLB during April, given the number of injuries, but with strong contributions from Bryce Elder, Grant Holmes, and Chris Sale, the Braves’ rotation is one of the best in baseball.
Adding Spencer Strider will just add to the depth. He was one of the game’s more dominant starters in 2022 and 2023, but a UCL reconstruction surgery kept him out for most of 2024, and was the main reason he struggled at times last season.
Over 125.2 innings pitched and 23 starts last season, Strider had an ERA of 4.45 and struck out 131 batters.
Now, after battling this oblique injury, he figures to be back on track, and his velocity is starting to creep up again, which is very encouraging because he relies on velocity heavily as a starter
