Cameron Young's battle with Scottie Scheffler at the Cadillac Championship as been delayed.

The PGA Tour is finding it complicated to complete the Cadillac Championship as a weather delay prevented the final round from starting on Sunday, May 3. Initially, the PGA Tour moved up the start time for the final round to 7:30 a.m. Eastern as golfers were put in threesomes.

Instead of teeing off in the afternoon, leaders like Cameron Young were scheduled to get started at 9:42 a.m. Eastern. Minutes before the Cadillac Championship’s final round was slated to start, the PGA Tour revealed a “dangerous weather situation” and halted the tournament.

“The start of the final round of the Cadillac Championship, originally scheduled for 7:30 a.m. ET, has been delayed due to a dangerous weather situation,” the PGA Tour revealed in a message posted on X at 7:02 a.m. on Sunday, May 3.

The PGA Tour has yet to announce when play is slated to resume on Sunday.

Cadillac Championship Weather Forecast Complicates When Play Will Resume

Prior to announcing the delay, the PGA Tour revealed an ominous weather forecast at Doral in Miami. The PGA Tour revealed a 70% chance of rain with a 50% lightning probability beginning at 8 a.m. Eastern.

Things are not forecasted to improve until 12 p.m. Eastern when the chance of rain drops to 30%. The challenge is the inclement weather is projected to intensify again with a 50% chance of rain and lightning at 2 p.m. Eastern.

This increases to 70% at 4 p.m. Eastern and 80% at 6 p.m. Eastern.

Will the Cadillac Championship Be Postponed?

The PGA Tour has yet to announce a contingency plan, but it is reasonable to wonder whether play will resume on Sunday. In past tournaments, the PGA Tour has played the final round on Monday if Sunday is rained out.

The forecast predicts that “showers and thunderstorms become more numerous this afternoon.”

“Showers and thunderstorms will be likely this morning as a cold front moves through South Florida,” the PGA Tour’s weather forecast for Sunday, May 3, detailed. “Scattered showers will remain possibly through the early afternoon before showers and thunderstorms become more numerous this afternoon. Showers and storms will produce heavy rainfall at times with gusty winds possible.”

Cadillac Championship on TV Today: Start Time & TV Channel

There originally was a scenario where the Cadillac Championship had been completed earlier in the day and CBS aired a tape delayed edition of the tournament at 3 p.m. Eastern. CBS’ coverage is slated to start at 3 p.m. assuming the Cadillac Championship is able to resume.

This scenario appears unlikely with the morning tee times being halted indefinitely. Fans can continue to follow the PGA Tour’s Communications social media account for additional updates on when the weather delay will end and play is slated to resume.
