Jared Gordon is looking to get back on track at UFC 328 in Newark this Saturday when he takes on crafty veteran Jim Miller in the lightweight division.
During media day, Gordon was asked if he watched the Justin Gaethje vs. Paddy Pimblett interim title fight at UFC 324. Gordon fought Pimblett in the past and lost a very controversial unanimous decision after three rounds. Gordon was pretty clear about his thoughts on that particular fight.
Jared Gordon Would Love A Rematch Against Paddy Pimblett
“They both looked bad in that fight. They had better performances before. But styles make fights. I just thought it wasn’t their cleanest performances. Paddy is very popular and gets pushed by the UFC, which is good for him, of course. Justin is the cleaner fighter on the feet. Paddy couldn’t take him down, so the fight remained standing most of the time. But I think it wasn’t a great performance for either of them, and I’m sure they feel the same way,” Gordon said.
Gordon says he is not frustrated about losing the controversial fight against Pimblett.
“Everything happens for a reason. I believe everything is already pre-written in life. And I still believe that there is an opportunity to fight a rematch against Pimblett. I know he is fighting Benoît Saint Denis next. That’s a very tough fight for him. If I beat Miller on Saturday and win one more, I have two wins in a row, and he has two losses in a row. It would make sense to fight against each other again. But I’m not disappointed if the rematch isn’t happening in the future. But if it happens, I will beat him again.”

Crafty Veteran Jim Miller Is Looking For Number 28
But first, the fighter out of Queens, New York, needs to get past Jim Miller. The veteran with the most UFC fights and wins in the history of the company enters the Octagon for the 47th time. Miller never fought for a UFC title but is one of the most respectable fighters to ever grace the Octagon. The 42-year-old out of Sparta Township, New Jersey, won three of his last five fights and hasn’t been finished since December 2018. Miller wants to keep fighting at least till UFC 400 and looks for his 28th win inside the UFC this weekend against Gordon. Gordon needs to get back on track after a somewhat surprising loss during Noche UFC last year against Rafa Garcia.
Gordon lost the fight via TKO in the third round. Gordon was injured going into the fight after he had been hit by a car one day before the fight. Gordon’s most recent victory came four months prior against Thiago Moisés. The New Yorker won that fight via knockout in the very first round. The fight between Gordon and Miller is part of the late prelims. It starts at 7 pm EST and takes place at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. Scheduled for 3-rounds in the UFC lightweight division. Despite losing his last fight, Gordon is the favorite going into the contest.
