Rory McIlroy plays his tee shot on the third hole during the opening round of the 2026 Truist Championship at Quail Hollow Country Club in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The leaderboard tightened Friday at Quail Hollow Club as the 2026 Truist Championship heads into a pivotal third round Saturday.
After weather delays impacted the opening round earlier in the week, the tournament is now fully back on schedule entering the weekend, with Sungjae Im holding the lead after 36 holes while several major names remain firmly in contention.
Tommy Fleetwood, Justin Thomas and Rory McIlroy are all within striking distance heading into Saturday at one of the PGA Tour’s toughest annual stops.
Sungjae Im will take a one-shot lead into Saturday after carding a second-round 69 to reach 9-under for the tournament.
Tommy Fleetwood sits alone in second at 8-under, while Justin Thomas and Alex Fitzpatrick are tied for third at 7-under entering Round 3.
David Lipsky, Kristoffer Reitan and Nicolai Højgaard are all tied at 6-under, with Rory McIlroy climbing into a tie for eighth after firing a second-round 67 Friday.
The final pairing features two players searching for a major momentum-building signature victory heading into the summer stretch of the PGA Tour season.
McIlroy climbed into contention Friday after shooting 67 and now enters the weekend just four shots off the lead at one of his best courses on tour.
The four-time major champion has historically dominated at Quail Hollow and remains one of the biggest draws entering Saturday’s round.
Thomas continued his strong recent form Friday and remains firmly in the mix entering the weekend at Quail Hollow.
Round 3 tee times and pairings are scheduled to begin Saturday morning at Quail Hollow Club, with players grouped based on leaderboard position following Friday’s second round.
The leaders are expected to tee off in the afternoon as conditions at Quail Hollow continue to firm up heading into the weekend.
Full tee times and pairings can be found on the PGA Tour’s official leaderboard page.
With firmer conditions expected over the weekend, scoring opportunities could become harder to find at Quail Hollow, particularly across the demanding closing stretch known as the “Green Mile.”
That setup could create major movement on the leaderboard heading into Sunday’s final round.
