After months of mock drafts and speculation, the 2026 NFL Draft has officially arrived. While Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza is widely expected to be selected No. 1 overall by the Las Vegas Raiders, much of the rest of the first round remains uncertain.

Where a player lands can be just as important as when they are drafted. Some franchises provide stability, structure, and patience, while others face constant change and high external pressure. A new ranking from The Action Network aims to answer one key question: which NFL teams give rookies the best chance to succeed?

Ranking NFL Teams Based on Rookie Success Environment

The rankings were compiled using a “Landing Spot Index,” which combines fan sentiment, organizational culture, and fan pressure into one score. The study analyzed more than 3 million Reddit comments using sentiment analysis, along with NFLPA report card data and fan behavior metrics, to evaluate all 32 teams.

According to the findings, the Seattle Seahawks ranked No. 1 with a score of 85.7. The team’s high ranking was driven by a strong internal culture and relatively low negative fan sentiment.

The Green Bay Packers followed at No. 2 with a score of 78.4. The Packers posted one of the highest organizational scores and one of the lowest levels of fan volatility among top teams.

The Miami Dolphins ranked third at 73.0 and recorded the highest NFLPA score among the top 10 teams, reinforcing their reputation as a player-friendly organization.

The Minnesota Vikings (67.9) and Las Vegas Raiders (65.5) rounded out the top five. Both teams showed that strong internal environments can offset higher levels of fan intensity.

Kansas City Chiefs, Dallas Cowboys Fall in Middle Tier

Despite recent on-field success, the Kansas City Chiefs ranked 16th overall with a score of 50.1. The ranking was affected by a lower NFLPA score than that of other top-performing teams.

The Dallas Cowboys placed 24th with a score of 43.1. The study noted that the Cowboys had one of the highest negative sentiment rates among major-market teams, which contributed to their position.

Other teams in the lower rankings included the New York Jets (33.2) and Cleveland Browns (28.7), both of which were cited for combining below-average organizational scores with more volatile fan environments.

What Drives a Strong Landing Spot for NFL Rookies

The study identified several key factors that shape whether a team provides a strong environment for rookie development. Teams ranked in the top 10 consistently showed high marks in organizational culture, typically posting NFLPA scores above 88. These scores reflect day-to-day factors such as facilities, coaching relationships, and how players are treated within the organization.

Fan pressure also played a significant role in the rankings. Teams with lower levels of negative sentiment allowed rookies more time to develop without immediate scrutiny. In contrast, franchises with more intense fan environments often created additional pressure early in a player’s career.

To build the rankings, researchers evaluated all 32 teams using three primary categories: fan sentiment, organizational culture, and fan base habits. Fan sentiment was measured by analyzing more than 3 million NFL-related Reddit comments using the VADER sentiment model to determine the percentage of negative feedback tied to each team.

Organizational culture was based on 2025 NFLPA report card data, which was converted into numeric scores. Fan pressure was estimated using alcohol consumption data, specifically the percentage of fans who report drinking five or more drinks during games, used as a proxy for game-day intensity.
