Yankees make Ben Rice decision.

The New York Yankees will have Ben Rice back in the lineup on Friday.

New York is set to begin a three-game road series against the Milwaukee Brewers on Friday, and the Yankees are getting a big boost to the lineup. The Yankees announced their lineup, and first baseman Ben Rice is back after missing the last four games due to an injury.

New York’s lineup is as follows:

  • T. Grisham CF
  • B. Rice 1B
  • A. Judge RF
  • C. Bellinger LF
  • J. Chisholm Jr. 2B
  • S. Jones DH
  • J. Caballero SS
  • A. Wells C
  • R. McMahon 3B

The Yankees getting Rice back is a huge boost to the lineup, as New York faces a solid Brewers team that has a stellar pitching staff.

Rice was dealing with a left-hand contusion. Before the injury, Rice was hitting .343 with 12 home runs and 27 RBIs and had been a focal point of the Yankees’ offense.

Yankees Didn’t Expect Rice Injury to be Serious

Although Rice missed the last four games, New York didn’t plan on placing him on the IL.

Instead, Yankees manager Aaron Boone said he felt like Rice didn’t need an IL stint .

“It doesn’t like it’s going to be an IL (stint),” Boone told YES Network’s Meredith Marakovits. “If it continues to not get to a point where it’s playable then obviously we’ll have that conversation. But it does seem day-to-day.”

Rice, meanwhile, was confident the injury wouldn’t be serious as he said it was just a little sore, but nothing was wrong with it.

“It’s a little sore,” Rice said. “I thought the throw (from Fried) was going to be a little lower than it was. I went down and thought it would be in the dirt. Then it kind of stayed up in the end. I caught it poorly. It kind of hit in the palm.”

The good news is, Rice is back in the lineup on Friday and only needed a couple of days off to recover from the left-hand issue.

Fans React to Rice Being Back in Lineup

After the Yankees announced their lineup, fans were ecstatic to see Rice back in the lineup.

“Ben Rice spotted. Life has meaning again,” a fan wrote.

“Ben rice and Spencer jones in the same lineup?!?? I just fell to my knees in Walmart,” a fan added.

“Ben Rice is back Spencer Jones making his MLB debut our ACE on the mound it can’t get any better than this,” a fan added.

Along with Rice, top prospect Spencer Jones is back in the lineup, which should provide another spark to the Yankees’ offense.

“Ben Rice is back and Spencer Jones in the lineup. This is gonna be fun,” a fan wrote.

“Ben Rice back in there and I actually like this lineup now win this ballgame,” a fan added.

“Okay so Ben was just waiting for Spencer to be up, I see how they operate,” a fan wrote.

The Yankees are coming off a series win over the Texas Rangers and enter play with a record of 26-12.
