Mets’ Star Pitcher Freddy Peralta Is One of the Top Trade Candidates in Baseball

With Freddy Peralta being a pending free agent on a struggling Mets team, he is undoubtedly standing out as a prime trade candidate. He is simply too valuable of a trade asset for the Mets to potentially lose for nothing during the offseason if they are not a playoff team. Because of this, he could very well get moved by the Mets if they do not come to terms on a contract extension with him.

Peralta would be a major pickup for a playoff team looking to boost the front half of their rotation, as he is a legitimate star. In eight appearances this season for the Mets, he had a 2-3 record and a 3.12 ERA.

Mets Have Another Prime Trade Candidate in Pitcher Clay Holmes

Peralta is not the only notable Mets pitcher who has the chance to be moved by the deadline. Clay Holmes is another Mets trade candidate to watch, as he has a player option for this offseason. With this, it would be understandable if the Mets listened to offers on Holmes if they continue to struggle.

Holmes would undoubtedly generate a lot of interest if he became available. The two-time All-Star has been spectacular this season, as evidenced by his 4-3 record and 1.86 ERA. With this, the Mets could get a big return for him in a move.

Mets Should Look to Move on From Kodai Senga

Kodai Senga has come up in the rumor mill this season, so he is another pitcher to keep an eye on this season as a trade candidate. The 33-year-old righty has struggled this season, as he has a 0-4 record and a 9.00 ERA in five appearances.

While Senga has had a tough season and is currently sidelined, there is a chance that he could generate interest as we get closer to the deadline. His past success could make him an appealing buy-low target for some playoff teams.
