Fans gather outside Gillette Stadium before a New England Patriots game. Foxboro officials are delaying approval of upcoming events as they push the Kraft Group to cover rising public safety costs.

The New England Patriots made some intriguing pickups in the UDFA free market following the draft, one of them being wide receiver Kyle Dixon. The wide receiver is oppressing all the course of rookie minicamp, as noted in a report from PatsPulpit’s Brian Hines.

The Patriots were active in the undrafted free agent market, signing 12 for the 2026 season. Dixon was one of them, and he came with a substantial price tag. He signed a deal that includes $252,500 in total guarantees. This is the third-largest guaranteed amount the Patriots have ever given to a player.

Now he has to prove it, and he did that on a smaller level on Saturday afternoon.

After not drafting a wide receiver, the Patriots were aggressive in the undrafted free agent market signing four pass catchers. Among the group included Culver-Stockton’s Kyle Dixon, who noticeably received over $250k in guarantees. In the lone full-team passing period, Dixon was the most active catching four passes from Morton. The 6-foot-2, 220-pound Dixon was primarily used in the Z role, drawing similarities to how Mack Hollins was used last season.

Patriots Wideout Had Stellar College Career

Dixon played 11 games in the 2025 season, recording 83 receptions for 1282 yards and 12 touchdowns. The playmaker averaged 116.5 receiving yards per game in what was a career year for him. He finished his college career playing in 22 games, and grabbing 143 receptions for 2,394 yards and 24 touchdowns. He averaged 16.7 yards per catch.

Dixon received accolades and recognition following his incredible season. The wide receiver was a First-Team NAIA all-American in 2025. He also became the first receiver in Culver-Stockton history to record two 1,000-yard seasons. In addition to those for honors, he was named a First-Team All-American and was given first-team all-conference honors.

Dixon wasn’t just successful for Culver-Stockton. The playmaker was able to make an impact on a national level. He ranked third nationally in receiving yards, fourth nationally in total receptions and receiving yards per game, and fifth nationally in receptions per game with 7.5. He was the only NAIA player invited to the Hula Bowl. The playmaker played well in the game, recording four receptions for 71 yards in the contest.

Now, he is looking to get his feet wet in the NFL with the Patriots. The Patriots, over the course of their history, have always prided themselves on wide receiver depth. They have also historically been able to make the most out of undrafted players.

A good recent example is Jakobi Meyers. He signed as an undrafted free agent out of North Carolina State, and recorded 235 receptions for 2,758 yards and eight touchdowns in four seasons. His best season with the Patriots came in 2021, when he recorded 83 catches for 866 yards and two touchdowns.

Dixon Could Be Under-The-Radar Patriot Wideout

Dixon will certainly be a name worth keeping an eye on. There’s obviously no guarantee that he will make the roster. With that being said, the money given to him indicates that the Patriots believe he can be something special. The Patriots have revamped their receiver room over the course of this offseason, with more potential months to come. Dixon is probably not going to be a top option, but he could provide depth as a slot receiver.

It will certainly be interesting to see what happens with Dixon during the course of training camp this summer. He could be a name worth watching.  As for now, his strong showing in the rookie minicamp is part of the reason why these camps themselves are so fun to follow.
