The A.J. Brown trade saga continues for the Philadelphia Eagles, with the consensus seemingly being that the storied NFL franchise will eventually move the star wide receiver ahead of the 2026 campaign.

All signs point to the Eagles striking a deal with the New England Patriots, sending the soon-to-be 29-year-old to the AFC East to catch passes from rising star quarterback Drake Maye and reunite with his former Tennessee Titans head coach, Mike Vrabel.

Although Brown may inevitably end up with the Patriots, longtime Eagles general manager Howie Roseman isn’t limiting his options on the trade market, with the Jacksonville Jaguars emerging as a potential trade suitor for the one-time Super Bowl champion.

During an appearance on Up & Adams with Kay Adams, James Palmer of Bleacher Report shared some insight on Brown’s situation in Philadelphia and how Roseman will continue to explore trade options with other teams like the Jaguars.

A.J. Brown to the Jaguars?

“There’s been some offers,” Palmer said. “There’s been some talk with the Pats, for sure. If you think Howie Roseman for a second is not going to be calling every other team, and I mean not just taking calls, but making calls to other teams on A.J. Brown, you’re a fool.

“This is the way Howie works. He’s going to try to get other teams involved. He’s going to try to see what the best options he can get for himself are, and I think Jacksonville, there’s been like, is Brian Thomas Jr. available?”

The trade rumors about wideout Brian Thomas Jr. have been floating around for quite some time, but it remains unclear if the Jaguars are truly open to trading the one-time Pro Bowler.

“He’s not available. Is he available? I’ve heard both behind closed doors, out in the open,” Palmer said of Thomas.

“James Gladstone down there is like, he’s kind of like Les Snead, where you have to have him sit on his hands. He’s always looking to do something big. He’s always looking to try to make a move, and at the deadline, man, was he trying to make some things happen at the deadline, and I mean big things.”

As for Brown, Roseman will continue to gauge trade interest across the NFL as the offseason progresses. Palmer made it clear that the Eagles’ general manager isn’t in a rush to make a deal to send the veteran wide receiver elsewhere.

“He’s going to keep looking around, even though everybody has it written down that AJ Brown’s going to the Patriots. … Howie has no timetable. That’s the part of it here. He isn’t no rush.”

Only time will tell how things pan out in Philadelphia, but it seems that nothing is imminent in terms of a Brown trade.

James Palmer on Eagles: ‘I Would Keep My Eye On’ DeVonta Smith

With it potentially being only a matter of time before Brown is traded, the Eagles may have plans to make DeVonta Smith the primary option downfield ahead of the 2026 NFL season.

“I would say this. What Philly has done, and the one player I would keep my eye on, is DeVonta Smith,” Palmer said. “What I have been told this offseason is he has been a man possessed about, ‘I’m going to step into this No. 1 role,’ calling former receivers, asking them about different things this offseason.

“I had a conversation with Nick Sirianni where he was like, we’ve just scratched the surface with DeVonta Smith. I think we can do so much more with him in this new offense. We can do so much more with him.

“They truly believe DeVonta Smith can be a one, but the more the merrier sometimes with Howie Roseman.”

During the 2025 campaign, Smith caught 77 passes for 1,008 receiving yards and four touchdowns. It was the third time in his NFL career that he cracked the 1,000-yard receiving mark, but it was also the lowest touchdown total of his career in Philadelphia.
