It's a cold reality I exist in. I have to constantly prove myself to people around me who have known I'm an author for years and yet have been making up every excuse to tell me that the only reason they haven't bought my books is I haven't come to them begging hard enough yet

I had one person tell me that she COULD introduce my books to ALL THE MAJOR HEADS OF THE BANKING INDUSTRY

And that they'd probably assign the books to their underlings

She even said she likes my website

She got both my books.

Not a word on whether or not she's ever cracked them open.

I know people who are attached to the schools

Do they tell their students "Hey there's an author here blah blah blah..."

They did that in FUCKING TEXAS

People don't exactly think of Texas as a hub of acceptance and forward thinking but when I was a LOCAL they fucking accepted my black ass and had me read for the students at the school.

But in "progressive" Norway?

No. "Get fucked darkie, you ain't from here and we don't know you."

You know what? I was gonna make this a longer post, but I don't think I even need to.

That hits home far too well.

TEXAS recognized me as an author WITHOUT ME EVEN HAVING TO ASK. They were EXCITED to show me off to their kids and announced me with smiles and fucking applause

Norway thinks I should beg each individual person in specific and special ways before they even CONSIDER recommending me and if they do, they expect me to consider it a favor
